For weeks, fans of Among Us<\/em><\/strong> have been teased with the biggest addition to the game since it skyrocketed into popularity this summer: a brand new map. Developer InnerSloth has been making it clear that the map would be announced during The Game Awards<\/a>, and today it delivered,\u00a0revealing that Among Us<\/em>‘ next map will be called The Airship.<\/p>\n

It’s been an incredibly massive year for the 2018 game of deception and cartoon murder. In the span of a few months, Among Us<\/em> has gone from a relative unknown in the gaming community to one of 2020’s biggest hits, up there with the likes of Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em>, The Last of Us 2<\/em>, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em>. Today at The Game Awards, it made a strong impression at its its first official showing, taking home not just the award for Best Mobile Game but Best Multiplayer too<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the momentum it’s gained this year, no doubt fans will be excited to start weeding out impostors and hunting down crewmates on The Airship.\u00a0Set to be released in early 2021, the map, unsurprisingly, will be set inside a large aircraft. Specifically, the ship is based on the Toppat Clan Airship from the\u00a0Henry Stickman<\/em> series<\/a>, and thus will feature several\u00a0references to InnerSloth’s earlier work.<\/p>\n

Players will find plenty of familiar features on the new map, including vents for impostors to sneak around in, recurring tasks like wires and data downloads, and the emergency meeting button<\/a>. Those will be joined by a number of new map elements like ladders, moving platforms, and the ability to start off in different rooms after a meeting. There will also be new tasks as well,\u00a0with the reveal trailer quickly showing off tasks that involve polishing up a dirty gemstone and pulling an overstuffed trash bag out of a trash can.<\/p>\n
