Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced\u00a0the company is developing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/fantastic-four\/\"><em>Fantastic Four<\/em><\/a> film that will be helmed by\u00a0<em>Spider-Man: Homecoming<\/em>\u00a0director Jon Watts.<\/p>\n<p>Marvel Studios procured the screen rights to the <em>Fantastic Four <\/em>from Fox<em>\u00a0<\/em>after Disney&#8217;s acquisition\u00a0of 21 Century Fox&#8217;s entertainment assets in 2019. During Marvel Studios&#8217; presentation at San Diego Comic-Con that year, Feige confirmed the company was <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/sdcc-2019-marvel-news-summary-movies-dates-casting\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">planning to introduce the Fantastic Four to the MCU<\/a>, but no further information regarding how or in what form was divulged at the time.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fantastic-four-sue-storm-casting\/\">Fantastic Four Director Reveals Big Regret About Sue Storm Casting<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During Disney&#8217;s Investor Day presentation this week, Feige finally announced the Fantastic Four will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a featured film.\u00a0&#8220;Finally, I&#8217;m happy to announce a film about one of the truly iconic Marvel families. In fact, Marvel&#8217;s First Family: Fantastic Four,&#8221; Feige declared. &#8220;We&#8217;re working on a feature now, and it will be directed by the director of our <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-3-tom-holland-mask-shares-first-look-at-marvel-studios\/\">recent <em>Spider-Man<\/em> films<\/a>, Jon Watts.&#8221;\u00a0Fans were also given a glimpse at Marvel Studios&#8217; <em>Fantastic Four<\/em> logo in a brief video clip included with Feige&#8217;s announcement.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarvelStudios\/status\/1337200479063994368\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After joining the MCU family as the director of <i>Homecoming<\/i>, Watts returned to helm the sequel\u00a0<em>Far From Home<\/em>\u00a0and is currently hard at work on the third installment of Tom Holland&#8217;s <em>Spider-Man<\/em> film series. During the Investor Day presentation, Feige confirmed the untitled third <em>Spider-Man <\/em>film will be connected to the events of <em>Doctor Strange Strange in the Multiverse <\/em>and\u00a0the Disney+ series <em>WandaVision<\/em>. Joining Holland in the next <em>Spider-Man<\/em> film will be Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, which may explain the inclusion of multiple characters from separate <em>Spider-Man<\/em> franchises, including <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/spider-man-3-alfred-molina-doctor-octopus\/\">Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fans may have a better understanding of what Marvel Studios has planned for the multiverse when <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/wandavision-posters-released-disney\/\"><em>WandaVision<\/em> premieres<\/a> in January 2021. The series, which seemingly revolves around Elizabeth Olsen&#8217;s Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany&#8217;s The Vision living in an alternate world created by outside forces, officially marks the beginning of the MCU&#8217;s Phase 4 era.<\/p>\n<p>Disney&#8217;s acquisition of 20th Century Fox raised concerns regarding the company&#8217;s increasing footprint in the entertainment industry.
