It may still be months away, but Pokemon GO<\/strong><\/em> trainers are already getting hyped for the upcoming Pokemon GO: Tour – Kanto event<\/a>. The massive event is not only bringing back a chance to catch all 150 original Pokedex entries, but also there will be shiny versions of every one of them available.<\/p>\n

In order to have the best chance to catch those shiny spawns, players are going to be encouraged to pick up an event ticket for around $12, which allows them to select Green or Red versions<\/a> for two different sets of bonuses. Each version will provide some increased chances of encountering a select region of the original 150, in order to help encourage trading between Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a> players who want to catch them all (especially the shiny versions).<\/p>\n

Although trading with friends to catch ’em all<\/a> has been a tradition since the earliest days of the Pokemon franchise, so has the strategy of getting around that limitation by purchasing multiple versions of each game. Since the first two-version event was announced earlier this week, some players have been wondering if they would be able to pay double to get two tickets and enjoy the full set of bonuses for themselves on a single account.<\/p>\n

After the announcement and initial press release, Game Rant was able to contact a representative of Niantic and ask whether or not a single account could potentially pay double for the event to gain access to both the Red and Green version bonuses. The answer was very clear:<\/p>\n

“Trainers can only select one version!”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This may come as a bit of a disappointment for trainers who were hoping to avoid organizing trades throughout and after the event, but this approach definitely seems more in line with the spirit of the event and pushes users to test out the temporary 40km trade distance increase. Some gamers may also argue that restricting players from purchasing both versions also limits the pay-to-win mentality that can sometimes take over games with as many microtransactions and tickets as Pokemon GO<\/em>. That that there is really a way to “win” PoGO, but the sentiment still makes sense from a certain perspective.<\/p>\n

As trainers continue\u00a0working through these amazing events and\u00a0enjoying the early days of the GO Beyond update, they\u00a0may want to keep hunting down\u00a0the best Unova Pokemon in the game<\/a>\u00a0if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal.
