However, few were prepared for the absolute news hurricane that the company sent out yesterday with over 50 productions already scheduled up to 2025, including at least 12 in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/star-wars\/\">Star Wars<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>universe.<\/p>\n<p>It bears clarifying that\u00a0a lot of these announcements were actually updates rather than completely fresh news previously unknown to the public. But with more to come from <em>The Mandalorian<\/em> and <em>Rogue Squadron<\/em>, as well as confirmation of rumors surrounding <em>Ahsoka<\/em>, <em>Andor<\/em>, <em>The New Batch<\/em> and <em>Lando<\/em>; plus some new surprises with the likes of <em>Star Wars Vision<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/star-wars-droid-story-r2d2-c3po-disney-plus\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>A Droid Story<\/em><\/a>, <em>The Acolyte<\/em> and <em>Rangers of the New Republic<\/em>; Disney is making sure <em>Star Wars<\/em> never goes through a dry spell again.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-rogue-squadron-wonder-woman-patty-jenkins\/\">Wonder Woman Director Making Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Movie<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Among the known projects were <em>Obi-Wan Kenobi<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-obi-wan-hayden-christensen-darth-vader\/\">now featuring Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader<\/a>; and the fact that Taika Waititi will be the man taking over the mainline <em>Star Wars<\/em> saga in the future. Though no clear dates were given for when Waititi will get down to work, the rest of Disney\u2019s plans provide a speculative timeline for when a new trilogy could kick off.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Disney\/status\/1337177344717549568?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since Patty Jenkins\u2019 <em>Rogue Squadron<\/em> is pinpointed for Christmas 2023, and Waititi is currently working with Disney on <em>Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em> (scheduled for early 2022), the New Zealander could be set to start focusing mainly on <em>Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>sometime after he\u2019s done with <em>Thor<\/em>. This would place his <em>Star Wars<\/em> film in the December 19, 2025 slot Disney has set apart, especially when considering Waititi will assume co-writing duties for the project alongside Krysty Wilson-Cairns.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Disney\u2019s overall approach for <em>Star Wars<\/em> seems to have left behind former CEO Bob Iger\u2019s statement from 2019 that their <em>Star Wars<\/em> efforts were &#8220;a little too much, too fast,&#8221; the company\u2019s main intent to book top-notch talent is clear, regardless of them having to wait for it. In Jenkins and Waititi\u00a0Disney has captured two of the current biggest directing names within and outside the superhero film genre, who will surely have no problem bringing over their vision to a galaxy far away.<\/p>\n<p>Waititi\u2019s is one of the busiest directors in Hollywood, one not known to skip a beat in-between projects.
