In comparison, Nintendo Switch\u2019s selection of streaming apps is small when put up against other consoles. An app for anime content would be a significant addition to the catalogue, which currently hosts services like Hulu and YouTube.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/funimation-adds-classic-anime\/\">Funimation Adding More Classic Anime Series<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The tweet in question showcases a video slowly panning onto a Nintendo Switch console. The words, &#8220;Oh, hello,&#8221; appear on the screen before the camera slides away from the Switch. A true tease for fans, it is somewhat unclear what this reveal could be referring to. However, a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-game-pass-funimation-anime-stream\/\">Funimation streaming app is\u00a0already available for Xbox<\/a> and PlayStation,\u00a0so it is safe to assume that this is an initial reveal for their series to become available on Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FUNimation\/status\/1337532667563282436\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Anime streaming apps are few and far between, with Funimation and Crunchyroll being the two main channels available. Funimation exclusives include famous series like, <em>Dragon Ball<\/em>, <em>Samurai Champloo<\/em>, and <em>Cowboy Bebop<\/em> to name a few. Recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-buys-crunchyroll\/\">Sony announced the acquisition of Crunchyroll<\/a> from AT&amp;T, changing the anime streaming landscape considerably. As the owners of Funimation, Sony is finally bringing the two libraries together, and now also for Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo\u2019s newest console <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-switch-dated-great-features\/\">promotes features unavailable for competitor consoles<\/a>, like a handheld mode. Unlike PlayStation or Xbox, players can use the Nintendo Switch on their television or take it on the go. With Funimation potentially releasing a streaming app, fans will be able to keep up with their favorite series no matter the situation. While the console could do with some more non-gaming apps, receiving a massive catalogue of famous anime series will be a momentous occasion for players.<\/p>\n<p>That said, there is no official comment from Funimation or Sony promising a streaming app yet. In addition, Sony\u2019s purchase of Crunchyroll is a new development, so it could be some time, if ever, before those series are available on a Funimation app. This announcement could rile players who are hoping for other main streaming apps on Nintendo Switch, a console that came out three years ago. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/switch-biggest-year-since-2010\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nintendo Switch being one of the most successful consoles<\/a> ever, it is unclear why Nintendo is so sluggish when introducing apps that have been available on the other consoles.
