The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild<\/em><\/strong> remains one of the Switch\u2019s highest rated games ever released. Now, fans eagerly anticipate Breath of the Wild 2<\/em>\u2019s release date<\/a> after Nintendo teased the game at E3 2019.<\/p>\n

However, some fans of the game are adding their own new content to Breath of the Wild<\/em> to give them something fresh to do while they wait for the sequel. Recently, a modder in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em><\/a> community created their own DLC expansion mod that adds Super Mario 64<\/em>\u2019s iconic Whomp\u2019s Fortress stage to the game.<\/p>\n

Breath of the Wild<\/em> modder and content creator Waikuteru has released a trailer for the DLC expansion, titled the \u201cThrowback Expansion DLC.\u201d This unofficial DLC expansion comes complete with multiple star missions, with some even replicating the star missions featured in the original Super Mario 64<\/em> level<\/a>. The stage itself is a large recreation of Whomp\u2019s Fortress that looks scaled to properly fit into Breath of the Wild<\/em>\u2019s engine and gameplay style. The stage even comes with moving blocks and platforms that use elements of Breath of the Wild<\/em>\u2019s shrines.<\/p>\n

Though this doesn\u2019t look to be a one-to-one recreation of Whomp\u2019s Fortress, Waikuteru\u2019s stage is incredibly impressive. The expansion will be released on December 25 for free to all players that wish to try out the mod for themselves, but players will have to find out how to download it for themselves. The modding community for Breath of the Wild<\/em> has done a lot of cool things in the past. Recently, one Breath of the Wild<\/em>\u00a0mod<\/a> fully restored Hyrule Castle to the way it was before the Great Calamity reduced it to the ruins that appear in the main game.<\/p>\n
