Another Justice Society of America has joined the ensemble of Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s Black Adam <\/em><\/strong>film. Trinkets<\/em> star\u00a0Quintessa Swindell has been cast as DC Comics character Maxine Hunkel, a.k.a. Cyclone, opposite Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero.<\/p>\n

Introduced in the pages of DC Comics’ J<\/em>ustice Society of America<\/i>\u00a0#1<\/a>, Cyclone is the granddaughter of\u00a0Abigail “Ma” Hunkel, the original Red Tornado and an honorary member of the Justice Society of America. Growing up, Maxine idolized many of her grandmother’s JSA allies and she\u00a0couldn’t contain her excitement upon meeting her heroes after accepting an invitation to join the team during her teenage years. Bestowed with the ability to manipulate wind, Maxine takes on the name Cyclone to honor the Red Tornado and her former sidekicks, the Cyclone Kids.<\/p>\n

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Swindell joins the cast as Cyclone alongside Sarah Shahi in an undisclosed supporting role. They join previously announced cast members\u00a0Aldis Hodge as Hawkman<\/a> and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. In a post on his official Twitter account, Johnson welcomed\u00a0Swindell and confirmed production on Black Adam<\/em> will begin in spring 2021. “A pleasure to officially welcome, Quintessa Swindell to our BLACK ADAM cast,” Johnson wrote. “They’ll be taking on the role of CYCLONE. Can’t wait to work with them and we ready to rumble in the DC jungle.”<\/p>\n
