Fortnite<\/strong><\/em> has received various new updates and events that expand the gameplay, content, and overall player engagement with the game. This includes\u00a0the big Galactus event<\/a> adding Marvel heroes and villains to the game to the recent\u00a015.10 performance update. Now there’s a new update to add to the growing list.<\/p>\n

Fortnite<\/em><\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0a new\u00a0update that will bring the game’s already dynamic visuals even higher with a 120 FPS Mode. Fortnite<\/em> previously received next-gen upgrades with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S. The upgrades\u00a0brought the visuals to 4K resolution and 60 FPS. Epic Games is capitalizing on the next-gen\u00a0hardware to provide better visual performance\u00a0to both the\u00a0Battle Royale and Creative modes.<\/p>\n

According to the Verge, the new update will allow players to enable the 120 FPS Mode in Fortnite<\/em>. However, the new visual performance mode does come with its fair share of trade-offs. For starters, while\u00a0using the 120 FPS Mode, the next-gen 4k resolution will be capped on the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Which will drop the visual quality down to 1440p on the next-gen consoles.<\/p>\n

It will also reduce the graphical settings for the game including shadows, post-processing, and streaming distances. The same applies to enabling\u00a0the 120 FPS Mode on the Xbox Series S, where the resolution drops to 1080p resolution and reduces graphical settings as well. However, Epic Games did state that the Xbox Series S<\/a> will use 1200p resolution as the default visual setting for all Fortnite<\/em> game modes going forward.<\/p>\n

The new 120 FPS Mode does fall in line with the recent performance updates Epic Games has been planning\u00a0to make to the game. The before-mentioned\u00a0Fortnite<\/em> 15.10 update<\/a> launched yesterday and added a performance upgrade to the game that would boost frame rates for players with low-end hardware.\u00a0Which would add high-resolution textures to the game,\u00a0but it came\u00a0with a sizable 23GB download file size.<\/p>\n

Part of the update is the PC Performance Mode for Fortnite<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0designed to smooth out the game’s visual performance for PC players. Especially for\u00a0players without the best computer setup or hardware. The PC Performance Mode automatically updates the in-game settings instead of requiring players to manually change them. It was released in an alpha state so PC players could test out the new mode for themselves.<\/p>\n

With these new updates, Epic Games continues to improve the visual performance of the game\u00a0for both consoles and PC. Even with Fortnite’s<\/em>\u00a0new performance updates<\/a>, players on all platforms can still look forward to\u00a0the upcoming Winterfest holiday event\u00a0to enjoy later this December.<\/p>\n

Fortnite<\/em><\/strong> is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n
