So, it was only a given that the expectations from a remake of this classic title<\/a> would be through the roof. Thankfully, not only does Final Fantasy VII Remake<\/em> manage to meet all these expectations, but some people would go so far as to say that it surpassed them as well<\/a>. Whether it be new players who were getting into the series for the first time or veterans that wanted to experience the magic of Final Fantasy VII<\/em> with a fresh coat of paint, the Remake managed to deftly cater to both these groups.<\/p>\n

For the people who finally finished Final Fantasy VII Remake<\/em><\/a> and wish to play more action RPGs in the same vein, here are ten such titles that could possibly scratch this itch.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/h2>\n

For the longest Guerilla Games was known as nothing more than the studio behind the Killzone<\/em><\/a> games\u00a0\u2014 certainly a great achievement in its own right but nothing that could be considered noteworthy per se.<\/p>\n

However, all of this changed when the studio was given the liberty to craft an original and unique IP that would make the most of the PlayStation 4 hardware to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience. The end result was Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em><\/a>, a game about fighting robotic dinosaurs that is as amazing as one might expect it to be.<\/p>\n

There aren’t really a ton of action JRPGs in the modern era, but the ones that do exist are definitely noteworthy. Tales of Berseria<\/em><\/a> is a great example of this.<\/p>\n

This accessible title serves as a great entry into the Tales<\/a> series, and dishes out a delectable combination of a brilliant story coupled with some engaging combat that makes the overall experience quite entertaining indeed.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Ys VIII:\u00a0Lacrimosa Of Dana<\/h2>\n

Speaking of action JRPGs, another title that definitely deserves a mention in this conversation is Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana<\/em>. Just like the Tales<\/em> series, the Ys<\/em> series has also been going strong for quite some time now, and there’s no better entry point into the series than Ys VIII<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The combat is excellent, the story is engrossing, and the setting is worth getting invested in. Any fan of JRPGs will definitely find themselves right at home when they play\u00a0Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana<\/em>.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Tokyo Xanadu<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Tokyo Xanadu<\/em> is another action JRPG that fans of the Persona<\/em><\/a> series will feel right at home with, mainly due to the social sim elements that are abundant in this title.<\/p>\n

Of course, the social aspects are just a small part of the bigger picture\u00a0\u2014 the combat present in this JRPG is also excellent in its own right, and will be more than enough to satiate fans throughout their journey with this title.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Monster Hunter: World<\/h2>\n

The Monster Hunter<\/em><\/a> series had been fairly limited to portable consoles and the like for the longest time, but all of this changed with Monster Hunter: World<\/em><\/a>, a game that most people consider to be the best title in the Monster Hunter<\/em> series and a great entry point for newcomers as well.<\/p>\n

Hunting down a slew of creatures in Monster Hunter: World<\/em><\/a> will never cease to be entertaining, making for a tightly-woven and well-crafted experience that will prove to be equal parts heart-pounding in some instances yet meditative in others.<\/span><\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Kingdom Hearts III<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Kingdom Hearts<\/em><\/a> franchise might’ve experienced its fair share of ups-and-downs, but there’s no denying the fact that the games themselves are pretty solid, and Kingdom Hearts III<\/em><\/a> is no different.<\/p>\n

Sure, it can be somewhat challenging to get through certain portions of this game due to how oddly paced they may feel, but there’s no denying the fact that Kingdom Hearts III<\/em> is still an excellent experience that is rewarding for people who’ve stuck with the series for the longest time.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom<\/h2>\n

Ni No Kuni<\/em><\/a> is a name that fans of both Studio Ghibli and good action RPGs are well aware of. The first game was great in its own right, which makes the accomplishments of the second title all the more impressive.<\/p>\n

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom<\/em><\/a> is an excellent title that any fan of good action JRPGs should definitely try out. The story is brilliant, the art style is charming, and the combat is enjoyable as well.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>God Of War<\/h2>\n

The PlayStation 4 was fortunate enough to be blessed with a slew of amazing exclusives that helped it stand out from the competition in a resounding fashion.<\/p>\n

One such title was God of War<\/em><\/a>, which served as a reboot of sorts not just for the franchise itself but for Kratos’ character as well. Watching Kratos evolve from a bloodthirsty fighter into a doting father<\/a> might seem like a jarring change in his character on paper, but the manner in which this is executed is truly masterful and makes for a memorable gaming experience indeed.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/h2>\n

Of course, it would be impossible to talk about excellent action RPGs without mentioning the masterpiece that is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recommending a Final Fantasy<\/em> game is the easiest and most fitting thing for anyone who wishes to play more games like Final Fantasy VII Remake<\/em>, but there’s only one title that truly fits in with the moniker of being an action RPG.<\/p>\n

The shift in the franchise’s focus from turn-based combat to a fully real-time one was very much set in stone with the release of Final Fantasy XV<\/em><\/a>, which\u00a0\u2014 while definitely flawed in ways both major and minor\u00a0\u2014 was an excellent experience<\/a> for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.<\/p>\n
