Among seeing\u00a0<em>The Last of Us 2\u00a0<\/em>joining an elite group of winners by being crowned the event&#8217;s Game of the Year, it also saw announcements for a new\u00a0<em>Perfect Dark\u00a0<\/em>game, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-callisto-protocol-red-band-trailer\/\">a spiritual successor to\u00a0<em>Dead Space\u00a0<\/em>known as\u00a0<\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-callisto-protocol-red-band-trailer\/\">The Callisto Protocol<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>and a fresh\u00a0<em>Among Us\u00a0<\/em>map.<\/p>\n<p>It seems the night was\u00a0successful\u00a0in more ways than just fan reaction, however, with Keighley announcing that the event\u00a0was the most-watched showcase in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/the-game-awards\/\">Game Awards<\/a> history. Pulling in a total of 83 million livestreams (an 83% increase over last year) and 8.3 million concurrent viewers, it seems the Game Awards has once again reached new heights with this year&#8217;s offering.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-last-of-us-2-wins-game-of-year-awards\/\">The Last of Us Part 2 Wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For context, last year&#8217;s showcase managed to score 45.2 million viewers while its first-ever event, which debuted back in 2014, pulled in a much smaller 1.9 million viewers. As Keighley&#8217;s yearly celebration of all things gaming continues to grow, it seems like\u00a0it&#8217;s truly becoming\u00a0a fixture of the gaming calendar, with millions of players tuning in to see <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/game-awards-2020-winners-list\/\">which\u00a0of their favorite titles\u00a0pick up awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/geoffkeighley\/status\/1339616542363766789\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not surprising this year was such a success when considering it boasted some major talent, including the likes of Gal Gadot, Tom Holland, Brie Larson, Keanu Reeves, and Christopher Nolan.
