Diehard fans\u00a0sometimes name their pets after certain Pokemon, for example, but\u00a0even non-gamers are heard adding &#8220;Poke&#8221; or &#8220;Pika&#8221;\u00a0to their words on occasion.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, one devout\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-sword\">Pokemon Sword<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-shield\"><em>Shiel<\/em><em>d<\/em><\/a> fan and sarcasm enthusiast seems to have accidentally helped honor a mighty Legendary Pokemon, and name his nephew, all in the same breath. Specifically, the Pokemon (and soon-to-be nephew) in question is Zacian, the sword-wielding Legendary Wolf, and &#8220;Cover Legendary&#8221; for <em>Pokemon Sword<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-tcg-trade-illustrator-pikachu-1-million\/\">Pokemon TCG Trade Valued at Almost $1 Million<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The story was initially posted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-eevee-pie\/\"><em>Pokemon\u00a0<\/em>fan<\/a> and Redditor, u\/Bladehuraska.\u00a0U\/Bladehuraska was apparently traveling with family in a van when the moment in question arose.<\/p>\n<p>His relatives were discussing potential names for their child, and wanted the name to specifically begin with a letter &#8220;Z,&#8221; and be otherwise unique. Meanwhile in the back of the van,\u00a0u\/Bladehuraska\u00a0worked away at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-zacian-location-trade\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">catching Zacian<\/a> in\u00a0<em>Pokemon Sword.\u00a0<\/em>Presumably tired of hearing the baby-name talk, he suggested that Zacian was a &#8220;cool name,&#8221; and even claimed that it meant &#8220;sword&#8221; in Japanese (it does not).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/tifu\/comments\/kdqzyp\/tifu_by_accidentally_naming_my_nephew_after_a\/?ref=share&#038;ref_source=link\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0<em>Pokemon\u00a0<\/em>fan&#8217;s family loved the suggestion and actually\u00a0decided to name their soon-to-be child &#8220;Zacian,&#8221; in supposed\u00a0reference to the Japanese word for &#8220;sword.&#8221;\u00a0As fans of the series might already know, Zacian is named so\u00a0largely and simply because of the cyan vs. magenta color theme\u00a0it shares\u00a0with <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-legendaries-zacian-zamazenta\/\">the\u00a0games&#8217; other titular Legendary<\/a>. Apparently, u\/Bladehuraska&#8217;s significant other is the only other person aware of the hilariously unfortunate mishap aside from his sister,\u00a0but rather than simply ignoring the concern, the\u00a0three will be\u00a0revealing this fact to their family and nephew come Christmas time.<\/p>\n<p>They hope to continue to lean into the &#8220;joke&#8221;\u00a0origin of the entire situation, and gift their relative a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-center-holiday-collection-2020\/\">series of\u00a0seasonal\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> merchandise<\/a>, presumably themed with Zacian in mind.\u00a0 Hopefully\u00a0u\/Bladehuraska&#8217;s\u00a0nephew&#8217;s parents take this in stride, and embrace the true uniqueness of their child&#8217;s Legendary name.<\/p>\n<p>Fans have been quick to point out that whether the parents appreciate this fun-fact or not, the name Zacian still offers a fair amount of flexibility. That is, it&#8217;s an ambiguous word, with regard to pronunciation. Zacian (the theoretical nephew) can choose to go by &#8220;Zacian&#8221; as it&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-lets-go-eevee-pronounce\/\">pronounced by\u00a0fans of\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em><\/a> and the eponymous Legendary, or, they can simply pronounce it in a different reasonable way.<\/p>\n<p>For example, many fans are suggesting that the first syllable can alternatively be pronounced as &#8220;Zay,&#8221; in case of extreme aversion to\u00a0the monster-taming franchise. Though of course, many are also pointing out that if there are\u00a0<em>any<\/em> Pokemon worth being named after, they&#8217;re undeniably the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-and-shield-crown-new-regi-legendaries-regidrago-regieleki\/\">Legendary sort, like Zacian<\/a>.
