As 2020 soon comes to a close, it is important to look back on all the wonderful gaming experiences that helped gamers cope with this year.\u00a0However, just as there have been many\u00a0award-winning games for 2020<\/a> that came out, there have also been some titles that weren’t quite as memorable for various reasons, whether it be poor controls, technical issues, or other concerns.<\/p>\n

Metacritic<\/a>, a review gathering website, has compiled a list of the top ten worst-rated games for 2020 as of December 15th. Titles with fewer than 7 reviews are automatically excluded, and if a single title was released on multiple platforms, the website only lists the lowest-rated version. Many gamers may not have heard of many of these titles, so here’s a brief explanation of them (working down to the lowest rated game).<\/p>\n

The Elder Scrolls: Blades<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is the newest installment into the Elder Scrolls<\/em> franchise developed by Bethesda. Many critics gave it a low rating for its bland grinding and repetitive nature, stating that the gameplay resembles a free-to-play mobile game (which it originally is) and that those elements did not translate to the Switch so well.<\/p>\n

Visually, Gleamlight<\/em> came off as a pleasing game, but it couldn’t last. Due to its flawed controls,\u00a0lackluster music, and minimal content, the game was\u00a0panned by critics.<\/p>\n

Some hoped\u00a0Street Power Soccer\u00a0<\/em>would be a fresh new take on the soccer sim,\u00a0but many reviewers\u00a0panned it for its lack of depth and polish.<\/p>\n

Tamarin<\/em> is a game developed by Chameleon Games, home to many previous developers from Rare<\/a>. As a result, there was some expectation for it, but unfortunately it didn’t land so well as a concept.<\/p>\n

Remothered: Broken Porcelain<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was critically panned\u00a0for its game-breaking bugs and confusing narrative.<\/p>\n

Due to the Arc of Alchemists’<\/em> poor frame rate,\u00a0uninteresting combat, and bland characters, many reviewers were unimpressed by the\u00a0game.<\/p>\n

Slightly Mad Studios developed Fast & Furious Crossroads<\/i>, the same\u00a0developer behind titles like\u00a0Project CARS<\/em> and Need for Speed: Shift.<\/em> Yet,\u00a0with a seemingly small budget that mainly went towards the voice acting, the game was plagued with bugs and poor controls.<\/p>\n

Developed by Brok3nsite, Dawn of Fear<\/em> was modeled after the classic 1990 Resident Evil<\/em> horror era. Unfortunately, the game is riddled with technical issues and poor design choices.<\/p>\n

XIII,<\/em>\u00a0an adaptation of a Belgian graphic novel series,\u00a0was originally released in 2003, with 2020 seeing it re-release as XII Remake<\/em> for a new generation. However, the studio changed many visuals and gameplay from the original, making many players so upset that they had to issue a formal apology to XIII<\/em> fans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The worst title of 2020 on Metacritic is given to Tiny Racer<\/em>, a $10 racing game exclusive to the Switch, due to poor gameplay and lack of inspiration.<\/p>\n
