It’s not rare for exceptional multiplayer games to have life spans far beyond their initial hype and release, but even single-player titles can often survive with loyal fanbases for many years. Good DLC can keep giving players more of what they loved about the base game, and 2020 saw a flood of story, multiplayer, quality of life, and expansions DLCs for all types of games new and old.

Some of the DLCs listed here are payed expansions while others are massive free content drops. From new characters and classes in co-op and fighting games to continued story exploration for linear story based games and MMOs, there’s extra content listed here that will please fans of practically any genre. The endless variation in guns, instantly recognizable artstyle, and over-the-top humor are all important parts of the Borderlands brand, but ultimately the combat is the main draw. The Krieg DLC for Borderlands 3 expands the story and adds tons of loot, and although the Krieg DLC is shorter than some of the others, its re-introduction of an extremely fun character and on-brand storytelling make it well worth picking up.

9 Control – The Foundation

Control was one of the most impressive and beautiful games of 2019, with fantastic art direction, a spectacular story, and proper utilization of ray tracing technology to boot.
