This time, it was the finale episode of Season 2 that ended with the biggest bang possible,\u00a0including a very special end-credits stinger for the future of the Disney+\u00a0<em>Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>universe in <em><strong>The Book of Boba Fett<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For those who haven&#8217;t seen it: At the end of\u00a0season 2, there is a scene where Boba Fett makes a short appearance <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/mandalorian-season-3-book-boba-fett-show-different\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as an announcement for\u00a0<em>The Book of Boba Fett<\/em><\/a>, which will be coming in December 2021. Some folks wondered\u00a0whether this meant that the show will be taking the place of the\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em>\u00a0Season 3. Will both shows run side by side? How does this new project fit into the current slate of projects?<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-book-authors-disney-not-pay-royalties\/\">Star Wars Book Authors Say Disney Hasn&#8217;t Paid Royalties for Years<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jon Favreau, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-mandalorian-moff-gideon-perfect-star-wars-villain\/\">creator of\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0recently did an interview on\u00a0<em>Good Morning America<\/em>\u00a0to clarify the exact nature of the project. Favreau made a point to explain that\u00a0<em>The Book of Boba Fett<\/em> is going to be a continuation of sorts, but not a replacement for\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em>. The show will be running next year instead of\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em> season 3, but production\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em> will pick up as soon as\u00a0<em>The Book of Boba Fett<\/em> concludes.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-production for\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em>\u00a0Season 3 is currently underway, though, so they&#8217;ll be ready to hit the ground running when time comes to start filming.\u00a0<em>The Book of Boba Fett<\/em> is planned to star Temuera Morrison alongside Ming-Na Wen, with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez executive producing. According to Disney, the show is set within the same timeline as\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em>, so it will likely have some effect on the adventures of the universe&#8217;s current cast of characters.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ErikDavis\/status\/1341016663685251079?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While this may be disappointing news for those who wanted to jump straight into a new season of\u00a0<em>The Mandalorian<\/em>, this new show could be a welcome change of pace. Of course, there will be\u00a0a buffet of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-acolyte-high-republic-era\/\"><em>Star Wars<\/em> content for everyone<\/a> given the huge number of announcements at Disney&#8217;s Investor Day event.
