Thanks to international time zone differences, Australians have already celebrated Christmas. Since the Oceanic country is located in the Southern Hemisphere, it is currently experiencing summer with temperatures past 80\u00b0<\/b>F. With the general idea of Christmas being white, a\u00a0Doom 2<\/em><\/strong> mod has taken up the task of depicting a Christmas that is more brown and orange.<\/p>\n

Santa’s Outback Bender<\/em> is a project from the Doomer Boards, led by Australian\u00a0Doom<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>level designer glenzinho. The project is part of the wider Doomer Boards Projects, which is a monthly mapping event that looks to remove the limits on the original\u00a0Doom\u00a0<\/em>source code.<\/p>\n

Besides the maps looking more brown and orange rather than white, various aspects\u00a0of Australian spirit can be seen including kangaroos, VB beer, and Vegemite spread. The mod’s title card even features Santa Claus surfing with koalas, an echidna, a platypus, and a cockatoo.<\/p>\n

More than two decades after the game’s release, fans are still finding various ways to mod the game. One modder recreated modern horror classic\u00a0P.T.<\/em><\/a>\u00a0for all those still lamenting the loss of the\u00a0Silent Hill<\/em> franchise and what Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro could have contributed to it.<\/p>\n

Another modder connected all\u00a0of Doom<\/em>‘s original levels into a larger open world<\/a>\u00a0in one of the most ambitious\u00a0Doom\u00a0<\/em>mods yet, transferring one of the most ubiquitous modern gaming ideas to the 1993 original.<\/p>\n

Of course, there are the fans who have transferred\u00a0Doom<\/em> past its original PC platform and onto more unusual systems. Perhaps the most bizarre one so far is being able to play\u00a0Doom<\/em> on a herd of\u00a0Minecraft<\/em> sheep<\/a>.<\/p>\n
