Developer Croteam has released patch 1.07 for Serious Sam 4<\/em><\/strong>, including a Christmas event and performance upgrades. Along with some expected game fixes, the event allows players to decorate a Christmas Tree to open a holiday-themed area. The event\u00a0is only available to PC users running the game through Steam.<\/p>\n

Steam players who want to participate in the event need to travel to Death From Above and find a lonely tree. After decorating the tree, players are transported to an alien-infested winter wonderland. In this area, players can search for presents containing either loot or worse surprises. Players should expect more of the same swarm style battles in the new Serious Sam 4<\/em><\/a> area. Make sure to take some of\u00a0Serious Sam’s best weapons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the recent acquisition of Croteam by Devolver Digital<\/a>, it’s yet to be seen what other changes or updates are coming in the future. For now, the 1.07 update is also bringing a much-wanted survival mode to the game that can be played in solo or co-op. The game mode will span across three maps, giving players plenty of room to roam. Croteam decided to add this mode to celebrate the survival of 2020.<\/p>\n

The update also aims to help stabilize frame-rate and performance issues that stem from the action-packed combat. One specific issue the Croteam targeted was frame-rate drops during the drone side quest in Breakfast In France. Unlike some previous entries in the series, Serious Sam 4<\/em>‘s system requirements<\/a> aren’t too high, and with this update, most performance issues should be minimized.<\/p>\n
