Fortunately, the tech company dbrand will have them covered come 2021, announcing that swappable <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/ps5\/\">PS5<\/a> faceplates will begin to be sold next year.<\/p>\n<p>Known for its custom phone, laptop, and console skins, dbrand is preparing to expand its catalog with \u201cOEM-grade faceplates\u201d for the PlayStation 5. With the company\u2019s custom plates \u201centering mass production by year\u2019s end,\u201d players will be able to snag one of the custom faceplates come 2021. The matte black design should be enticing to those that do not like the PlayStation 5\u2019s base white color scheme, and it is the latest attempt by a third-party company to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/psa5-custom-faceplates-customize-my-plates\/\">sell custom PS5 faceplates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-faceplate-platestation-name-change\/\">Fan-Made PS5 Faceplate Company Rebrands after Sony Complains<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Intriguingly, dbrand directly challenges Sony to make an attempt to sue in the post announcing the faceplates. This is a bold move on the part of the skin provider, as Sony has already <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-faceplate-sony-lawsuit\/\">threatened faceplate makers with legal action<\/a> in the past. However, dbrand seems confident that Sony will not be able to sue, as it doubles down in the comments and once again \u201cencourage [Sony] to try.\u201d For players interested in buying a faceplate, keeping an eye on the legal situation may be worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/dbrand\/comments\/kk0aav\/introducing_playstation_5_faceplates\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=mweb\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another comical part of the post sees dbrand taking a shot at CD Projekt RED. Poking fun at <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-refunds-sony-ps4-ps5-policy\/\"><em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>\u2019s messy launch<\/a>, the company\u2019s statement includes the quote \u201cif CD Projekt RED has taught us anything, it&#8217;s that selling products before they&#8217;re finished is a bad idea.\u201d One of the many lines in the post to get a laugh out of Redditors, the clever post also included references to the issues caused by COVID-19 in 2020 as well as the infamous PS5 scalpers \u2014 all of which led to plenty of comments praising dbrand\u2019s social media manager.<\/p>\n<p>In a reply to a commenter\u2019s question regarding more color variety in faceplates going forward, dbrand replies with \u201cperhaps.\u201d The company then goes on to mention that there will be a \u201ccurated array of middle skins for customization\u201d as well as skin options for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/ps5-players-reporting-dualsense-adaptive-triggers-breaking\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the PS5\u2019s DualSense controller<\/a>. If players are planning to customize the center of their PS5 console or controller, dbrand will have more options available alongside the faceplates next year.<\/p>\n<p>While it is unclear if Sony will attempt to sue dbrand, people have been quick to notice that there are no PlayStation logos seen anywhere on the plates \u2014 something that would make a legal case challenging.
