In this day and age, it’s common for leaks to spread quickly through the Internet, and developers can do little to stop the flow of information. This is the case with Gears 5<\/strong><\/em>, which saw a horde of upcoming multiplayer skins leaked through social media and Reddit. Rather than comment on the leak or try to stop it,\u00a0Gears 5<\/em><\/a>‘s\u00a0developer merely addressed the situation in a humorous way.<\/p>\n

There are over 35 Gears 5<\/em> multiplayer character skins floating around social media at the moment, and it’s been difficult to pin down exactly where they originated. While the Gears Mexico fan account notably did its part to spread the information, it doesn’t appear to be the main source. The skins consist of Omega Squad, Hivebuster, Chrome Steel, Hollow Storm, Recon, and Heroic, just to name a few. The official Gears of War<\/em> Twitter account chimed in on the leak in a curious way — through a meme.\u00a0While the meme doesn’t exactly\u00a0confirm\u00a0that the skins are legit,\u00a0it doesn’t\u00a0exactly\u00a0deny it, either, which has led some fans to believe that the Gears 5<\/em>\u00a0skins<\/a> are legitimate.<\/p>\n

The game’s developer, The Coalition, likely has its hands full with more important things, such as working on new content like the Hivebusters <\/em>expansion that released earlier this month. The newest DLC gets its name from the popular comic book of the same\u00a0title, and has players step into the shoes of Lahni, Keegan, and Mac from the Gears 5<\/em> Escape Mode<\/a>. As the Scorpio Squad, they engage in a campaign that lasts around 3 hours long and features up to three-player-co-op. Additionally, Hivebusters<\/em> released with a free update<\/a>, dubbed the Title Update 12, <\/em>that brought along a number of changes and fixes to the game.<\/p>\n
