The reason that <strong><em>God of War<\/em><\/strong> character Kratos is trending alongside <em>Avengers<\/em>\u00a0villain Thanos is rather humorous. Included in\u00a0thousands of tweets, it had to be a bit surprising to see\u00a0Kratos trending on Twitter, considering there isn&#8217;t any new info about his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/god-war-ragnarok-release-date-2021-2022\/\">upcoming <em>God of War<\/em> sequel<\/a> to be had.\u00a0There also wasn&#8217;t any new info about Thanos either. Instead, the\u00a0pair of powerful characters are trending because Twitter users want to know who would win in a fight between them.<\/p>\n<p>Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel universe. In <em>Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, he brought the universe to its knees after wiping out half of its entire population.\u00a0While the Marvel villain is\u00a0a genocidal maniac, the MCU managed to make him a somewhat pitiable character who recited some of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/marvel-best-thanos-quotes\/\">most popular quotes from the\u00a0<em>Avengers<\/em>\u00a0movies<\/a>. On the other hand, Kratos has long been the star of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/god-of-war\/\"><em>God of War<\/em><\/a> video game series. Over the course of several installments, he managed to kill the entire pantheon of Greek gods. In the latest story, he turned his attention to wiping out Asgardian deities.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-the-mandalorian-god-of-war-cory-barlog\/\">God Of War Director Reveals Ideas For A Star Wars Mandalorian Game<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While Twitter trends are usually started by an article generating conversation, this time around, it was a simple tweet that grabbed a ton of users&#8217; attention. It helped that Kratos and Thanos are among the most well-known characters in the video game and movie industry. Kratos even has renewed interest thanks to the announcement earlier this fall that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/god-war-ragnarok-kratos-atreus-relationship\/\"><em>God of War: Ragnarok<\/em>\u00a0is in development<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ragnar_Klaus\/status\/1344231698456838146\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When it came to the debate on who would win a fight between Kratos and Thanos, it appears most users believe that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/god-of-war-uncharted-sony-remaster\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>God of War<\/em> hero would win<\/a>, no matter what iteration of the character is fighting the battle. Most people offered up the rationale that Kratos was able to take down gods. Thanos lost his life doing battle against humans, even if they were super-powered.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, a fight between Kratos and Thanos isn&#8217;t as far fetched as some might think. Both characters <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/god-war-ragnarok-sequel-kratos-fortnite-good\/\">made an appearance in <em>Fortnite<\/em><\/a>, as just one example of how a crossover can be pulled off.
