The indie game has up to four players take on the role of ghost hunters. The setting can range from prison, school, hospital, or house and there are 12 different kinds of ghosts that behave differently. <\/em><\/p>\n

The game did not just get popular for its high quality. The news of Phasmophobia<\/em> spread fast\u00a0through famous game streamers such as PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye. Many people are also stuck in their homes under quarantine, so co-op games are a welcome way to be with friends<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For those who are looking for more co-op horror games that are like Phasmophobia<\/em>, there are other titles that are also worth checking out.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>GTFO<\/h2>\n

Released in 2019, GTFO\u00a0<\/em>is a survival-horror first-person shooter<\/a> that is co-op. It certainly sets itself apart from Phasmophobia<\/em> due to its combat, but it does share themes in the co-op and the scares.<\/p>\n

Even non-fans of\u00a0Friday the 13th<\/em><\/a> will enjoy this title for its co-op and scares. Unfortunately, public severs for multiplayer have been taken down. However, friends can host their own sessions if they find enough people to play with. This is also one of a couple of games where players can take on the role of Jason. <\/a><\/p>\n

There is a single-player mode, but that is not what most players get this game for. Many Steam reviews note that they loved the game in its hay-day when there were public servers.<\/p>\n

The online community for Dead By Daylight<\/em> is big and there is a ton of fun content. However, unbalanced matchmaking can be a great source of frustration for new players.<\/p>\n

Also released in October of this year was\u00a0Labyrinthine<\/em>, a game that takes place in an overgrown and spooky maze. The title is beautiful as well as scary to look at, but many reviews claim it does not feel completely done yet. However, it seems likely that improvements will come in the future.<\/p>\n

While single-player is available, the game really shines in co-op where gamers join together to solve puzzles and try to escape the maze full of monsters.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>The Blackout Club<\/h2>\n

This first-person co-op horror game<\/a> was released in 2019 and centers on four friends who team up to solve the central mystery on their own. The story is about “blackouts” and the kids who are the main characters seem to be the only ones who know about it.<\/p>\n

The town map gets bigger as player levels increase. As for the gameplay style, it is mostly about stealth.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Unfortunate Spacemen<\/h2>\n

Pacify<\/em> takes place in a haunted house where players have the role of paranormal investigators. The game has single-player, co-op, and even a versus mode where the players are all interns competing for a full time.<\/p>\n

Unlike Phasmophobia<\/em>, this game is very attached to a single location and singular ghost. However, that is to the game’s advantage because\u00a0those two elements\u00a0are terrifying.<\/p>\n
