Although it had a humble beginning as a middle-of-the-road Point Break<\/em> rip-off, the Fast & Furious<\/em><\/a> franchise has since evolved into a game-changing Hollywood giant. Universal doesn\u2019t have a big superhero franchise, except it kind of does with the physics-defying antics of Dom Toretto and his partners-in-crime\/family. With increasingly large-scale sequels and a recent foray into spin-offs, the\u00a0freshly rebranded The Fast Saga<\/em> is now bigger than ever<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These aren\u2019t the kind of movies that critics tend to enjoy, but even the sternest, snootiest reviewer can\u2019t deny the sheer fun of watching the most explosive entries in the F&F<\/em> series.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Fast & Furious (29%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Vin Diesel\u2019s return to the Fast & Furious<\/em> franchise marked a return to its former glory and a bright future as one of the biggest movie series in the world, but not right away.<\/p>\n

After skipping the second and third movies, Diesel reprised his role as Dom Toretto in the fourth movie, simply titled Fast & Furious<\/em>, which saw the franchise rebooted as a straight action series. This one was a pretty generic action movie; the franchise wouldn\u2019t go above and beyond until Fast Five<\/em>.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>2 Fast 2 Furious (36%)<\/h2>\n

Paul Walker returned for the first sequel to The Fast and the Furious<\/em>, but Vin Diesel didn\u2019t. Instead, Walker shares the spotlight with Tyrese Gibson, whose Roman Pearce character develops a new buddy dynamic with Walker\u2019s Brian O\u2019Conner.<\/p>\n

While 2 Fast 2 Furious<\/em> is far from a perfect movie, it does have some thrilling action sequences and there\u2019s merit in entertainment that doesn\u2019t try to be anything more than entertainment.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift (37%)<\/h2>\n

This movie\u2019s street cred was raised significantly by Christopher Nolan\u2019s recent admission that he has a \u201csoft spot<\/a>\u201d for it. It\u2019s a fun action movie, but it really messed up the Fast<\/em> franchise\u2019s continuity. Thanks to Tokyo Drift<\/em>, the F&F<\/em> movie chronology looks like this: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 7, 8. It\u2019s more confusing than Star Wars<\/em>, and that deals with stolen democracies and fallen empires.<\/p>\n

Without Vin Diesel (who only makes a cameo appearance for the rights to the Riddick<\/em> franchise) or Paul Walker (who doesn\u2019t appear at all), this doesn\u2019t really feel like a Fast & Furious<\/em> movie.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>The Fast And The Furious (53%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The first movie in the Fast & Furious<\/em> franchise is often called a rip-off of Point Break<\/em>, and rightly so. Instead of telling the story of an FBI agent infiltrating a gang of bank robbers and becoming endeared to their leader, it tells the story of an FBI agent infiltrating a gang of street racers and becoming endeared to their leader.<\/p>\n

Still, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker\u2019s chemistry was undeniable from the very start and their unique pairing elevates the movie above its familiar narrative to feel fresh.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>The Fate Of The Furious (67%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Shockingly, Dom Toretto turned his back on his family in The Fate of the Furious<\/em> and began actively working against them on the villain\u2019s side. This twist seemed unworkable in the trailers, but the movie makes it work surprisingly well.<\/p>\n

The eighth Fast<\/em> movie set a very high bar for the upcoming ninth one<\/a> to top. It\u2019ll be hard to go even bigger than Dwayne Johnson redirecting a missile with his bare hands.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (67%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

After much of The Fate of the Furious<\/em>\u2019 second act was dedicated to a backdoor pilot for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham to get their own spin-off, David Leitch\u2019s endearingly goofy Hobbs & Shaw<\/em> didn\u2019t disappoint.<\/p>\n

Johnson and Statham share terrific chemistry<\/a>, while Idris Elba\u2019s superpowered villain and an abundance of celebrity cameos ensure there isn\u2019t a dull moment in the movie.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Fast & Furious 6 (70%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

After Fast Five<\/em>\u2019s explosive foray to Rio proved to be wildly successful, Fast & Furious 6<\/em> built on that with a trip to London and even bigger action sequences, including a finale set on an airport runway that\u2019s been estimated to be 26 miles long.<\/p>\n

While it doesn\u2019t quite reach the groundbreaking heights of its predecessor, Fast & Furious 6<\/em> has plenty of fun moments, like a tank tearing across a highway.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Fast Five (77%)<\/h2>\n

Action movie franchises have usually worn out their welcome by the fifth installment, but the fifth installment in the Fast & Furious<\/em> franchise is what turned these movies from serviceable actioners into must-see blockbusters.<\/p>\n

Ever since Dom Toretto dragged a vault through the streets of Rio de Janeiro, the Fast<\/em> movies have been committed to topping their own insanity, and the fans are more than happy to go along for the ride.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Furious 7 (82%)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Tragedy struck the production of Furious 7<\/em> when Paul Walker, one of the franchise\u2019s leads, unexpectedly passed away. Against all odds, Vin Diesel, James Wan, and co. were able to turn the movie into a touching tribute to their fallen brother.<\/p>\n

Arguably, Furious 7<\/em> should\u2019ve been the end of the franchise. It\u2019ll be officially concluding after movie 11<\/a>, but however that one ends, it won\u2019t be able to top the emotional catharsis of Dom and Brian\u2019s final race set to \u201cSee You Again.\u201d<\/p>\n
