One of the major attractions of the recent\u00a0Genshin Impact\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>update\u00a0was undeniably its\u00a0new Dragonspine region. Though present on the map since the game’s launch, this Cryo-affiliated mountain range was inaccessible until the\u00a0latest update, which finally invites players into the Sheer Cold.<\/p>\n

One of Dragonspine’s defining characteristics is its Sub-Zero Climate, a first for\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em><\/a>. Players in Dragonspine will have to watch a new sort of Stamina bar, that measures the player’s current ability to survive in “Sheer Cold.”<\/p>\n

In short, once a Traveler’s Sheer Cold gauge runs out, they will begin to continuously lose HP until they find a source of heat. For those familiar with\u00a0Fortnite<\/em>, it feels similar to being caught “in the storm,” and thankfully,\u00a0there are countermeasures. Although most expected sources of heat, like standard fires, will help warm a player and restore their resistance to Sheer Cold, there are certain items that will do a better job. Namely, Scarlet Quartz<\/a> and Warming Bottles.<\/p>\n

Scarlet Quartz is a new sort of mineral found in Dragonspine, while Warming Bottles, on the other hand, are a new\u00a0forgeable\u00a0“gadget,” like Anemoculus Resonance Stones. Players will need to find a diagram to learn how to craft them, but once the diagram’s been studied, Warming Bottles can be forged with the help of a blacksmith. To receive the Warming Bottle’s diagram, players will have to\u00a0raise the new Frostbearing Tree<\/a> up to Level 4 by finding Crimson Agate – after that, each\u00a0Warming Bottle requires 2 Flaming Flower Stamens and 2 Starsilver to forge.<\/p>\n

Once crafted,\u00a0Warming Bottles can be consumed to protect oneself from the cold, like the game’s new Goulash dish<\/a>. Another interesting fact about the Warming Bottle is that it’s a miniature artificial Seelie. Whereas Seelie were thought to be green spirit-like beings, Dragonspine introduced a new red variety of Seelie, which help players survive the Sub-Zero Climate. If players inspect the item closely, they’ll notice that a Warming Bottle contains a\u00a0tiny Warming Seelie, which makes the three-star hand-warmer all the more appealing of an item.<\/p>\n

If struggling to find the right ingredients, players should be sure to thoroughly inspect the new Dragonspine area. Starsilver is found abundantly throughout Dragonspine<\/a>, and Flaming Flower Stamens have been in\u00a0Genshin Impact<\/em> since the game’s release, so players will hopefully know what to look out for. If not, thankfully, they’re easily obtained: they’re dropped by the iconic always-on-fire flowers\u00a0found throughout Teyvat.<\/p>\n

Genshin Impact<\/strong><\/em> is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.<\/p>\n
