With each new generation of Pok\u00e9mon<\/em><\/a> games comes a new batch of monsters to tame, befriend, and battle. As one would expect, many of these creatures boast incredible powers the likes of which could wreak havoc were they to exist in real life.<\/p>\n

However, some remain incredibly weak even by Pok\u00e9mon standards, having incredibly low base stats and being practically forgotten by the competitive meta. Even after having reached their fully-evolved form, these monsters barely do the name any justice. Trainers may want to avoid them altogether to save themselves the hassle. (Disclaimer: since this list looks at evolved forms, single-stage Pok\u00e9mon are excluded.)<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Raticate (Base Stat Total: 413)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

This Normal-type began the tradition of the staple “first-route rodent”<\/a>, and it continues to fill that niche with its lackluster stats. It regained a small bit of relevance in the Gen 7 games with an Alolan form, but that unfortunately wasn’t enough to bring it into the competitive scene. To its credit, Raticate has usable Attack and Speed stats, as well as access to some pretty devastating moves like Super Fang and Endeavor. However, both forms remain frail defensively, especially to any and all Fighting-type attacks.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Vivillon (Base Stat Total: 411)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Vivillon’s main gimmick is that it has a different color pattern depending on where in the real world it was caught or evolved. A Vivillon from North America will look completely different from one found in Europe. This doesn’t save it from being a bad Pok\u00e9mon, Its typing, for instance, makes it especially weak to common attacking types like Fire, Rock, and Electric. That, combined with abysmal 50 base defenses, means this butterfly won’t be fluttering about the battlefield for long.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Sudowoodo (Base Stat Total: 410)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Glancing at its base 100 Attack and base 115 Defense stats, Sudowoodo may seem like a decent choice at first. True to its name as the Imitation Pok\u00e9mon, however, these are merely a front to disguise its true lackluster nature.<\/p>\n

Sudowoodo’s base stat total is tied with the likes of Medicham and Bibarel, which potentially outclass the fake tree thanks to their abilities<\/a> and higher Speed stats. And when a potential teammate is on par with one of the most laughed-at Pok\u00e9mon in the game, it’s high time to consider other options.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Wobbuffet (Base Stat Total: 405)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Wobbuffet received a fair bit of attention in the anime after Jessie added one to her team. It quickly became one of the quirkier members of Team Rocket’s entourage, though it attempted to prove itself in battle by countering any and all attacks coming its way. Though its in-game counterpart has a meaty HP stat to withstand hits, its defenses and move pool drag it down. Parasect and Shiinotic also share this base stat total, but their combat potential outweigh this punching bag’s predictability.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Delcatty (Base Stat Total: 400)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

This fancy feline<\/a> certainly lives up to its name as the Prim Pok\u00e9mon, but looks aren’t everything when it comes to battle. Delcatty’s poor stats keep it from having any sort of viability in the competitive scene, even when taking its decent Speed stat into account. While Ariados shares the cat’s base stat total, it packs a stronger physical punch and has slightly more bulk. Even so, both remain weak options for building a team, no matter which generation players find them in.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Beautifly (Base Stat Total: 395)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

A big trend for Bug-type Pok\u00e9mon in the games<\/a> is that they evolve quickly, but maintain mediocre stats. These next entries showcase this to a painfully obvious degree, as all entries from here on out are bugs.<\/p>\n

Beautifly, along with Butterfree and Beedrill, hold some of the lowest numbers among fully-evolved Pok\u00e9mon. They barely even match Vivillon in some areas. It’s possible that these simplistic species were only meant to be training fodder for player teams, which makes their existence as potential teammates even more depressing.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Ledian (Base Stat Total: 390)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Ledian is a ladybug that many players forget exist. Its only decent stat is Special Defense, which hardly keeps it alive when taking its low HP stat into account. Its attacking stats are barebones at best, making it fall incredibly short as a potential fighter. This Pok\u00e9mon would be lucky to survive even one hit from an opponent, and even then it won’t manage to provide a suitable counterattack. Ledian’s lack of presence in the most recent Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> games indicates just how little people care for this poor creature.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Dustox (Base Stat Total: 385)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Though this moth tries to serve as a counterpart to Beautifly, it proves itself worse<\/a> by having fewer stat points. Dustox is the more defensive of the two, essentially swapping Beautifly’s attack and defense stats. For some reason, however, Dustox loses some Special Defense points in the process. It hardly seems to matter, though; Dustox still remains fragile thanks to its low speed and HP. It’s typing doesn’t do it many favors, either, as it remains weak to Fire and Rock, the banes of Bug-types.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Kricketune (Base Stat Total: 384)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Oddly enough, Kricketune has higher attack and HP stats than Raticate from before. As indicated by the lower base stat total, though, it falls incredibly short in terms of speed and defenses. Not much else can be said about Kricketune, which speaks volumes about its lack of competitive presence. Only players attempting a Nuzlocke run might find themselves in the situation of considering using one. Otherwise, expect this Pok\u00e9mon to faint on the same turn it enters battle: a shame, considering the cricket’s cult following surrounding its battle cry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Shedinja (Base Stat Total: 236)<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Shedinja is one of the most unique Pok\u00e9mon in the game<\/a>, though not entirely in good ways. For starters, it is the only evolution that has a base stat total that is lower than its pre-evolved form. It’s also the only\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon with a base HP stat of one, meaning it only has 1 HP regardless of level. Its ability Wonder Guard tries to circumvent this setback by negating all but super-effective attacks. But status-inflicting moves like Toxic and damaging weather like Hail or Sandstorm also do Shedinja in.<\/p>\n
