From fishing tourneys and model-making to monthly lineup additions of new fish to catch, those who have mastered the mechanics of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em><\/a> mini-game adore it.<\/p>\n

As such, fishing experts should be happy to know that there will be a reason to make bait in Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em><\/a> this January. Five new fish will be joining the lineup, from small critters such as the pufferfish to massive ocean dwellers like the blue marlin. Unfortunately, the good news of new fish only applies to those in the South, as Northern Hemisphere players will be stuck with the same lineup that they had in December.<\/p>\n

For Northern players disappointed in the lack of new sea creatures<\/a> for Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em> this month, the same unfortunate scenario has played out when it comes to fish. Any watery bit of Northern Hemisphere islands will boast the same wildlife that was seen in December, meaning that players that have donated all of last month\u2019s fish to Blathers are already done hunting in January.<\/p>\n

For Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em> players that like to fish for fun or as a source of Bells, though, the good news is that December\u2019s collection of fish<\/a> is full of moneymakers. The highly coveted Stringfish can be found on clifftop rivers, with the rare catch netting players a massive 15,000 Bells if caught. The spiny Sturgeon can be grabbed from river mouths and rewards players with 10,000 bells if sold to Timmy and Tommy. The massive and much more common Oarfish can be captured from the sea, with the terrifying critter selling for a solid 9,000 Bells.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, players in the Southern Hemisphere are not as unlucky as players in the North. While Northern Hemisphere users can build Snowboys to get special DIYs<\/a>, those in the South have some added variety as to what fish can be caught. While it is currently shark season for Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em> players in the South, guaranteeing plenty of Bells can be collected, a handful of new fish have also joined the game too.<\/p>\n
