The pros and cons can be debated for hours, but one indisputable benefit of playing on PC is that if someone has the funds to afford the high-end hardware, PC gaming provides the best visual and graphical\u00a0performance around.<\/p>\n

Because the majority of gamers don’t own high-end PC’s, many developers aren’t willing to spend too much time optimizing their games as the majority of players won’t get the chance to see them performing at the top level. That’s not to say that there’s a shortage of games that will test the limits of even the best hardware though, as there are numerous games that compensate players for the eye-watering investments that\u00a0the top\u00a0builds require. It’s worth pointing out that the games on this list are judged on the developer’s intended product, as adding mods into the\u00a0equation<\/a> would turn this into an entirely different list.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Star Wars Battlefront II<\/h2>\n

To say that EA had a tough time<\/a> with the marketing of Star Wars Battlefront II<\/em><\/a>. would be an understatement, as the implementation of microtransactions understandably soured many players on the\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>title.<\/p>\n

As much as some players would like to ignore the game, it’s hard to deny that EA provided players with an incredible, immersive visual experience that truly made players feel like they were in the films<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For developers, the best thing about creating an open-world set in a fictional location is that there’s no limit to how ambitious and extraordinary the game-world can look.<\/p>\n

Just Cause 4<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>takes place in a fictional South American country named\u00a0Sol\u00eds. The stunning landscapes aren’t\u00a0Sol\u00eds’ only impressive feature though, as the country suffers from frequent thunderstorms and tornados that will test not just the player’s capability to survive, but it will test the capabilities of their PC’s hardware too.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

When Assassin’s Creed Origins<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>took Ubisoft’s\u00a0Assassin’s<\/em>\u00a0Creed<\/em> series in a more RPG centric direction, it wasn’t just the gameplay that changed, but the franchise’s already impressive visuals took a sharp increase in quality too. The games’ visuals have been improving since, and the latest iteration,\u00a0Valhalla<\/a> <\/em>has\u00a0the best\u00a0aesthetics yet.<\/p>\n

Despite\u00a0being set in Montana, United States, Far Cry 5<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>much like\u00a0Just Cause 4<\/em>, is set in a fictional location that gave the developers free-range to create a fantastic open-world.<\/p>\n

Players aren’t restricted to just admiring the world that the development team created though, as\u00a0Far Cry 5\u00a0<\/em>lets players try their hand at creating their own open-world paradise with the map creator.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Shadow Of The Tomb Raider<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The third entry into the rebooted\u00a0Tomb Raider\u00a0<\/em>series<\/a> saw a shift in development teams, as Eidos-Montreal took over from Crystal Dynamic who developed the previous two games and just had a supporting role with\u00a0Shadow of the Tomb Raider<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

2015<\/em>‘s\u00a0Rise of the Tomb Raider<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>had a strong argument to be on this list, but\u00a0Shadow of the Tomb Raider\u00a0<\/em>trumps it with its fantastic tropical environments.<\/p>\n

Metro Exodus<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is the third entry into the\u00a0Metro\u00a0<\/em>series and gave players an open world to explore for the first time in the series. The scenery is far from being the prettiest on this list though, as the game\u00a0takes the player on a long journey across a post-apocalyptic Russia.<\/p>\n

Don’t let the premise fool you though,\u00a0Exodus\u00a0<\/em>is far from being a walking simulator. In fact,\u00a0the survival horror game’s unsettling and atmospheric\u00a0visuals will make gamers wish they were playing on N64 graphics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Forza Horizon 4<\/h2>\n

Forza Horizon 4<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is a fitting game to follow\u00a0Metro Exodus\u00a0<\/em>as\u00a0a drive around an English countryside is a great way for players to put\u00a0Metro<\/em>‘s post-apocalyptic horrors out of their minds.<\/p>\n

Along with a beautiful rendition of Great Britain,\u00a0Forza Horizon 4<\/em> earns its spot on this list for adding changing seasons to the critically acclaimed\u00a0Forza\u00a0<\/em>series<\/a>; a fantastic addition that will test even the most expensive rigs.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Control<\/h2>\n

Developed by 505 Entertainment,\u00a02019’s\u00a0Control<\/em><\/a> took players on an action-pact, story-driven adventure that lived up to the high expectations that the developer set with 2010’s\u00a0Alan Wake<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

5050 Entertainment were rewarded for their efforts with the game’s visuals, as\u00a0Control\u00a0<\/em>picked up numerous awards including Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2019<\/a> and Best Visual Art at the Game Developers Choice Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Red Dead Redemption 2<\/h2>\n

Rockstar is probably kicking back and enjoying the fall out over\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>‘s buggy launch<\/a>, as it has inadvertently\u00a0made gamers appreciate the incredible open-world games that they have been creating over the years. Fans are still waiting to hear any official news about\u00a0Grand Theft Auto 6<\/em>‘s existence, but they were treated to the next best thing in 2018 with a sequel to\u00a0Red Dead Redemption<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Red Dead Redemption 2\u00a0<\/em>certainly didn’t disappoint, scoring a whopping 97 on Xbox One and PS4<\/a>. Unfortunately, the PC port had a few performance issues<\/a>\u00a0and consequently scored four points lower<\/a> than the other iterations, but the game still looked phenomenal and reminded players exactly why they forked out for such a high-quality PC build.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/h2>\n

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt <\/em><\/a>earning the top spot on this list likely\u00a0won’t surprise anyone\u00a0who has played\u00a0the epic action-RPG. CD Projekt Red’s game didn’t have an ideal start to life, as\u00a0it was inundated with glitches on launch. These were soon fixed though and the game’s incredible scope was fully realized.<\/p>\n

The Witcher 3<\/em>‘s comeback from a rocky start has given\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077\u00a0<\/em>players a glimmer of hope, as it’s safe to say\u00a0that CD Projekt’s latest game has failed to impress<\/a> so far.<\/p>\n
