According to the 2016 Xbox One sci-fi third-person shooter video game\/TV show<\/a> Quantum Break<\/strong><\/em>, January 5, 2021 will be the End of Time. For many, that may mean 2021 is looking better than 2020 was.<\/p>\n

According to the lore of\u00a0Quantum Break<\/em><\/a>, the “End of Time” is the moment when the universe runs out of Chronon energy, leading\u00a0to the collapse of the Meyer-Joyce field, which maintains the flow of time throughout the universe. Lacking in the Chronon energy that keeps time flowing, time stops; the universe freezes, trapped in a single moment for all of eternity. Much of the game’s episodic plot is dedicated to stopping this cataclysmic event.<\/p>\n

January 5, 2021 was gleaned from a whiteboard\u00a0that lists out today’s date as the day when the End of Time takes effect. The data was provided by a character named Paul Serene, who had been sent to the future in a time machine accident and saw the effects of the End of Time first-hand, and\u00a0then sought to prevent the End of Time’s effects from coming to pass. Whether or not he succeeded will seemingly remain a mystery, as Microsoft has apparently no interest in making a sequel to Quantum Break<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
