Well, it&rsquo;s been shipped out to the loyal consumers who helped crowdfund it, and it turns out it can play the hottest new releases.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/UnA7tepsc7s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s going by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nbmRk6DLkv0\"  rel=\"noopener\">video from YouTuber Kevin Kenson<\/a> &ndash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/cyberpunk-2077-runs-on-atari-vcs-but-not-very-well\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">as spotted by GamesRadar<\/a> &ndash; who managed to get<strong> Cyberpunk 2077<\/strong> running on the hardware. The Atari VCS is pretty much just a mini computer and it&rsquo;s possible to boot into Windows via the console&rsquo;s PC Mode, meaning that it can play anything that a regular PC can. So they had to try to get Cyberpunk 2077 running on it.<\/p>\n<p>We say <em>play<\/em>; Kenson&rsquo;s footage shows that the game runs &ndash; how do we say this diplomatically? &ndash; like <em>absolute shit<\/em>, even on the minimum graphics settings. Not that that&rsquo;s saying much given that Cyberpunk 2077 also runs like a turd rolling downhill on most hardware right now, so much so that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/12\/18\/ps4-cyberpunk-2077-refund-sony\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Sony pulled the game from its PlayStation Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the VCS doesn&rsquo;t exactly boast the most high-end of specs and isn&rsquo;t really designed to run something as crazy intense as Cyberpunk 2077, it&rsquo;s hardly surprising that it only runs the game at a super low framerate.<\/p>\n<p>The Atari VCS &ndash; originally known as the Ataribox &ndash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2017\/09\/26\/new-atari-console-gets-a-release-window-and-pricing-details\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">was unveiled in 2017<\/a> and was set for an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign that would see the hardware come out in spring 2018. As you can tell, the product has run into a few scheduling issues and other assorted drama. The same could also be said of Cyberpunk 2077, so maybe these two are perfect for one another.<\/p>\n<p>The hardware was rebranded to Atari VCS at GDC 2018 ahead of the Indiegogo campaign that eventually went live in May 2018.
