Disney and Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian<\/em><\/strong><\/a> introduced several new characters to the Star Wars<\/em> canon, nearly all of whom have become instant fan favorites. Now, Disney is allegedly considering adding these characters to its\u00a0Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme parks in both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.<\/p>\n

Construction on the Galaxy’s Edge theme parks began four years after Disney acquired Lucasfilm<\/a>, with both venues officially opening to the public by the end of summer 2019. Occupying 14 acres of land in each park, Galaxy’s Edge transports visitors to\u00a0a\u00a0village located\u00a0on\u00a0the remote\u00a0planet of\u00a0Batuu and features multiple attractions, shops, restaurants, and iconography from the Star Wars<\/em> mythos. However, the decision to canonically set the events of Galaxy’s Edge in between The Last Jedi<\/em> and The Rise of Skywalker\u00a0<\/em>has resulted in certain limitations for the venues, including an inability\u00a0for children to meet iconic characters such as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, not to mention the fact that several characters from the “Rise of the Resistance” attraction have been killed off in the films.<\/p>\n

Now, Disney historian\u00a0Jim Hill\u00a0reports that the company may be loosening the self-imposed restrictions on Galaxy’s Edge and could soon add characters from The Mandalorian<\/em> to the Star Wars<\/em> theme parks. In the most recent episode of his\u00a0Disney Dish podcast, Hill noted that the Mandalorian, Grogu (a.k.a Baby Yoda), Boba Fett, and\u00a0Bo Katan may be among those added to the roster of characters roaming around the attractions. Furthermore, Kylo Ren’s ship may be switched for a full-sized version of the Razor Crest<\/a>, the vessel owned by the Mandalorian until it was destroyed in the second season of the Disney Plus series. \u00a0Considering The Mandalorian<\/em> is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi<\/em>, which itself takes place approximately 30 years before The Force Awakens<\/em>, it is conceivable that characters from the series and the sequel trilogy could exist at the same time in the Star Wars<\/em> timeline.<\/p>\n

The success of The Mandalorian<\/em> has also spawned a spin-off series titled The Book of Boba Fett<\/em><\/a>. Scheduled to debut on Disney Plus in December 2021, the series will continue the adventures of\u00a0Temuera Morrison’s titular bounty hunter, who appeared in multiple episodes of The Mandalorian<\/em>‘s second season. The spin-off was evidently set up by the post-credits scene of The Mandalorian<\/em>‘s season two finale in which Fett assumes control of the palace once owned by Jabba the Hutt.<\/p>\n

Of course, while the prospect of seeing characters and spaceships from The Mandalorian<\/em> in Disney’s theme parks is exciting, fans will likely have to consider how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect these plans. After all, all Disney parks have been closed<\/a> at some point during the health crisis, if they ever opened at all, resulting in multiple projects for these venues being postponed or canceled.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for\u00a0fans, Disney has no intention of slowing down its plans for the franchise on television. Multiple Star Wars<\/em> projects were announced last month at Disney’s Investor Day presentation, including Rangers of the New Republic<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Mandalorian<\/em><\/strong> is now available on Disney Plus.<\/p>\n
