Twitch admittedly has a controversial history with how\u00a0it handles\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/twitch-hispanic-heritage-emote-apology\/\">emote modifications<\/a>, although today, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/twitch\/\">Twitch<\/a>\u00a0announced\u00a0its plans to revive the iconic emote following a suggestion from a Twitter user.<\/p>\n<p>The comments made by Gootecks involved the death of a protestor during the\u00a0events that took place on January 6th. Twitch, taking issue with Gootecks allegedly inciting further violence, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/twitch-removes-pogchamp-capitol-attack-gootecks\/\">decided to remove the &#8220;PogChamp&#8221; emote<\/a>, among several other decisions regarding the situation. Recognizing the sentiment and importance of the emote, the platform promised to work with the community to design a newer, more suitable emote to represent the high energy moments on Twitch.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/rust-wipes-explained\/\">Rust Forced Wipes Explained<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Following up on a suggestion made by esports commentator and Twitter user Sean Plott, Twitch decided to roll with the idea of a new PogChamp every 24 hours, starting today. Plott&#8217;s idea supposedly suggested a new, random PogChamp whenever someone types it in chat, so it appears that Twitch is going with a less frequent version that still encapsulates the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-mandalorian-far-cry-6-good\/\">immense hype<\/a> behind the term &#8220;pog.&#8221; In any case, the streaming platform is wholeheartedly leaning into the spirit of &#8220;figuring out 2021 together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Twitch\/status\/1347589555197595650\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In support of Twitch&#8217;s decision, many fans and smaller streamers have posted images of themselves or their favorites, supplying Twitch with plenty of material for future use. That said, the streaming giant may likely create an <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-nintendo-world-site-uses-fanart\/\">official<\/a>\u00a0submission form within the next few days, giving a more direct approach to fans and streamers wanting to become a &#8220;PogChamp.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Twitch&#8217;s decision to remove the emote came\u00a0its decision to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/donald-trump-twitch-account-suspended-banned-why\/\">suspend President Trump&#8217;s channel<\/a>, seeking to minimize any further damage he may cause. Trump&#8217;s Twitch channel was largely used to broadcast his rallies, unlike other politicians who used the platform more traditionally.\u00a0 Twitch made this decision along with Facebook and Instagram, which both noted the potential for Trump to further incite violence if given a platform.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/twitch-banning-simp-n-word\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitch has shown far less leniency<\/a> in how\u00a0it manages bans according to ToS or\u00a0its harassment policy.
