Earlier this week, Lucasfilm debuted a new\u00a0subseries consisting of comics and novels titled Star Wars<\/strong><\/a>: The High Republic<\/em>. With the launch of the multimedia initiative, the company also expanded and rebranded the official eras of the Star Wars<\/em> timeline.<\/p>\n

The stories of\u00a0Star Wars: The High Republic<\/a><\/em>\u00a0will be set 200 years before the events of\u00a0The Phantom Menace<\/em>, a period\u00a0regarded as the golden age of the Jedi order during which there was peace throughout the galaxy. The\u00a0launch of the High Republic<\/em> initiative included Marvel’s Star Wars: The High Republic #1<\/em>\u00a0 and a novel written by Justin Ireland titled\u00a0A Test of Courage, <\/em>both of\u00a0which contained the\u00a0new official\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>timeline can be found within\u00a0their opening pages.<\/p>\n

Prior to the High Republic<\/em> initiative, the Star Wars<\/em> saga was divided into three distinct eras known as the “Age of Republic,” “Age of Rebellion,” and “Age of Resistance.” Of course, the Star Wars<\/em> saga has expanded since that time to include multiple television shows and written works, prompting Lucasfilm to expand its timeline to include six eras. Following the “High Republic” era is the “Fall of the Jedi” period, which consists of all films in the Star Wars<\/em> prequel trilogy. Afterward,\u00a0 The Bad Batch<\/em> and Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/em> will chronicle the “Reign of the Empire” period while “The Age of Rebellion” will be comprised of Rebels<\/em>, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/em>, and the original trilogy. Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian<\/em><\/a> is currently the sole\u00a0entry within “The New Republic Era” while “The Rise of the First Order” period will be marked by Resistance<\/em> and the Star Wars<\/em> sequel trilogy.<\/p>\n
