The recent release of Bluepoint Games’\u00a0Demon’s Soul<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0remake has quickly become one of the most impressive titles on the PS5. However, as the success with the developer’s remakes like\u00a0Shadow of the Colossus<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>have been looking good, some players are curious as to when they might see some original content come from the clearly talented studio.<\/p>\n

So, while the\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em><\/a> remake is a phenomenal, there may still be steps forward for Bluepoint, both with the future development of new remakes and the hopeful development of new titles altogether. Of course, some fans are looking forward to what the next remake might be, with hopes for\u00a0Castlevania<\/em> and\u00a0Legend of Dragoon<\/em> having been stoked by comments by the developer as far back as 2019.<\/p>\n

Considering that even the most recent remake has taken some critiques, generally over changes made to\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em><\/a>, there is still much to learn about how to go about readapting classic games for next-gen systems. This may just be the nature of remakes as a whole, though, since even Square Enix’s\u00a0Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> had taken some criticisms for changes made, while still being nominated for multiple Game of the Year awards. All of this then lends to even more reason for Bluepoint to diversify into creating original titles alongside remakes, so as to earn credibility beyond the success of tuning up other developers’ older properties.<\/p>\n

There’s a good chance that when most players hear the name Bluepoint Games, the first thought is either\u00a0Shadow of the Colossu<\/em>, or\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em>. However, the developer is responsible for a number of older remasters, including upgrading the original\u00a0God of War<\/em> trilogy<\/a> to PS3 or at least the first two in the collection that premiered on PS2. More recent titles include\u00a0Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection<\/em> and the\u00a0PS4 version of\u00a0Gravity Rush<\/em>, which have also released to steady success.<\/p>\n

This kind of track record in Bluepoint’s catalogue is much of what led up the hype for the release of the\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em> remake as well as the hopeful\u00a0Legend of Dragoon<\/em> rumors<\/a> that fans continue to cling to. The release of\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em> specifically has been able to make the most of that hype, though there are still some naysayers who were disappointed by some of the visual design changes. Regardless of these criticisms, the most recent remake has found even more success than the\u00a0Shadow of the Colossus<\/em>, which means the trend is still heading up.<\/p>\n

It’s still unclear what comes next for Bluepoint, with much of the public outreach still being limited to promoting and celebrating the stellar release of\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em><\/a>. However, following the trend going all the way back to the PS3 and PS4 remasters, the developer has only been improving its method with reinventing older titles. So, even the success of\u00a0Demon’s Souls<\/em> won’t be the peak for Bluepoint pulling classics out of the past and putting them onto Sony’s modern consoles.<\/p>\n

This should give players high hopes to Bluepoint Games’ next project<\/a>, even if fans don’t quite know what it’ll be at this point or if it will diverge from much of what the developer is already known for. Considering that the remake developer is currently hiring, there might already be a project well underway in a more original context than previous titles. Regardless, the developer is still catching\u00a0its stride and working on improvements to the formula, and fans can expect the next title to keep that upward trend moving for even more success.<\/p>\n
