From the late 90s to the late 00s, message boards were a prevalent way to engage with others who shared similar interests in gaming. Dedicated communities, such as <strong><em>Tekken<\/em><\/strong>, were defined by these early passageways of information.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the increase in accessibility from other mediums over time causes website traffic to become stagnant.\u00a0While sites such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/cd-projekt-red-cyberpunk-cut-content-rumor\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GameFAQs continue to\u00a0adhere to this formula<\/a>, other websites that were once beacons for\u00a0entire communities become archaic. Worst case scenario, such remnants of the past have no choice but to shut down.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-game-pass-games-leaving-january-2021-mortal-kombat-x-tekken-7\/\">Xbox Game Pass is Losing Two Major Fighting Games<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tekken Zaibatsu, one of the last remaining\u00a0relics of this bygone era, shut its doors over the weekend.\u00a0At its core, the website was known for being a\u00a0significant source of information spanning across <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/tekken\/\"><em>Tekken&#8217;s<\/em><\/a> history. These included\u00a0promotional artwork, screenshots, and frame data for games in the series long before it became a staple in\u00a0<em>Tekken 7<\/em>&#8216;s DLC.<\/p>\n<p>Beneath the surface lied the Zaibatsu message boards. Players of all skill levels congregated together,\u00a0discussing the games and their strategies. Planning meet-ups for various sessions, local tournaments, and major tournaments was also common. It was a place for smack talk, but it was also a place where curious minds could find support among other fellow fans of the series.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Tekken\/comments\/k72gd9\/the_end_of_an_era_after_20_years_tekken_zaibatsu\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With the rise of modern social media and community apps such as Twitter and Discord, these discussions moved elsewhere and traffic dwindled. The site owner, Castel, made the decision to shut down the forums in December but expressed interest in archiving the site for historical purposes.\u00a0If one were to go to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tekkenzaibatsu.com\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tekken Zaibatsu website now<\/a>, they would be greeted with this:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Tekken Zaibatsu has been permanently closed, efforts are under way to find a new home for the Wiki and an archive of the forums.
