Experiment 101\u2019s upcoming action role-playing game Biomutant <\/em><\/strong>debuted at Gamescom 2017, when the first gameplay trailer revealed the title\u2019s cat-like main character and open-world environment. The game is the Swedish developer\u2019s first, and occasional trailers have kept gamers intrigued despite Biomutant<\/em>‘s tenuous release windows<\/a>, cancellation rumors, and long silences from Experiment 101.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0financial report by the game\u2019s publisher THQ Nordic seemed to reveal that Biomutant <\/em>could hit stores before the end of the publisher\u2019s fiscal year<\/a>. That would have meant the game would launch before March 31, 2021, which may have been a surprise considering there had been no definitive release date announcements. However, THQ Nordic has since clarified that the game\u2019s launch is slated for the company\u2019s next financial year, which begins in April 2021.<\/p>\n

In a previous statement, THQ Nordic revealed that it considers Biomutant <\/em>to be one of its biggest upcoming titles, with CEO Klemens Kreuzer calling it \u201ca release of great importance.\u201d The open-world title sets players on a post-apocalyptic journey filled with anthropomorphic mutated animals. The protagonist of Biomutant <\/em>is a fully customizable mammalian warrior<\/a>, with starting options for gender, body shape and size, fur style and colors, coat type, and initial mutation.<\/p>\n

Although Biomutant<\/em><\/a> features typical RPG attributes such as strength, vitality, charisma, intellect, agility, and luck, these numbers will change according to the character\u2019s appearance. For example, a creature with a larger head will have greater intelligence, thereby increasing their psionic or mental abilities. As the game progresses, the mutated player character will be able to recode their DNA to adjust stats and also upgrade them with points earned by leveling up.<\/p>\n
