The ongoing saga of\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> has yet to reach any sort of conclusion. While CD Projekt Red says players have not uncovered everything in Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>, neither, it seems, has Poland’s Consumer Protection Agency.<\/p>\n

The Polish CPA, known as UOKiK, has begun monitoring and investigating CD Projekt Red regarding\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>. The investigation represents possible significant repercussions to CD Projekt Red if it is discovered that the company is not doing enough to satisfy consumers who were not satisfied with\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>. Said repercussions may also come to the company if\u00a0UOKiK finds fault with its refund policy regarding players who wanted a refund for\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>.<\/p>\n

At the heart of UOKiK’s investigation into CD Projekt Red<\/a> is the handling of\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> on certain consoles, specifically the PS4 and Xbox One.\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> was marketed as playable on these systems, as well as on PC, but is an absolute mess on previous gen systems. Even on PCs, including higher-end ones,\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> is riddled with bugs. The UOKiK investigation will look into the specific problems, the actions taken by CD Projket Red to fix them, and the actions taken in response to players who were not satisfied with\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If UOKiK finds the actions taken by CD Projekt Red unsatisfactory given the scale of the problems with\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>, it may fine the company 10% of its yearly income. That’s a lot of money, even with\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> selling as well as it did despite refunds. Those refunds are one of the areas where UOKiK may find serious fault too, as the whole Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> refund debacle<\/a> is well documented. If the refund policies CD Projekt Red has implemented are deemed satisfactory, the fine or other measures may well be forthcoming. It is likely that one of the most important deciding factors will be how the game was marketed vs. what consumers actually got.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind, all of this is the official Polish government investigation, and is in addition to the lawsuit filed against CD Projekt Red<\/a>. The company is under fire from both official channels and from consumers directly.<\/p>\n

This is, of course, only the latest in a rapid series of debacles and disappointments surrounding\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>. As the Steam player count of Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> continues to drop<\/a>, it is clear the fallout of the game’s hype and release are not over. At this point, players can only ponder what the ramifications of this series of events will be on the future of the industry.<\/p>\n

Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and is in development for\u00a0PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n
