Weekly briefings about new content were a staple for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare<\/em>, and also incorporated updates for Call of Duty: Warzone<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Call of Duty: Mobile<\/em>, and more. They took a hiatus following the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> launch, but today a new weekly briefing that details the Black Ops Cold War<\/em> mid-season update<\/a> was released through the Call of Duty blog.<\/p>\n

Fans of the franchise can look forward to a number of additions coming January 14 when the mid-season update drops, including a Fireteam map called Sanatorium and a 6v6 mode called Dropkick. However, Call of Duty Blog also details two new bundles coming to the in-game store for\u00a0Black Ops Cold War<\/em> and Warzone<\/em>, following a tradition of content bundles in Modern Warfare<\/em> such as last Halloween’s Saw<\/em> and Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/em> cosmetics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The games will receive a Kill Bill<\/em>-inspired “Disavowed Assassin” bundle for Operator Yirina Portnova on January 14, previously revealed by a menu glitch according to CharlieIntel. It promises five items: A Legendary melee weapon Blueprint, a Legendary Operator skin, a Legendary Finishing Move, as well as an Epic Emblem and Calling Card. On January 17, there will be a Tracer Pack Indigo bundle offering Call of Duty:<\/em>\u00a0Warzone<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and Black Ops Cold War<\/em> players the chance to buy Legendary Blueprints for a “Great Pacific” assault rifle and “Turbo Powered” SMG that both fire colored tracer rounds.<\/p>\n

The January 11 weekly briefing also outlines a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> Zombies mode free access week<\/a> that will open up the fan-favorite mode to all between January 14 and January 21. Beyond that, Call of Duty: Mobile<\/em> is launching a new “Counter Intelligence” event this week that lets players run around a virtual map of the Soviet Union, and a Call of Duty: Warzone<\/em> tournament will be taking place on January 15.<\/p>\n

Though\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em>‘s launch and integration with Warzone<\/em> has been a successful venture for the franchise thus far, some sources suggest the next-gen Call of Duty<\/em> title has been slower than its predecessor. Analyst firm SuperData reports Black Ops Cold War<\/em> took about six weeks to earn $678 million<\/a>, whereas Modern Warfare<\/em> earned $600 million in its first three days on the market.<\/p>\n

It’s hard not to call either of these metrics a success, however, and the return of weekly briefings for Black Ops Cold War<\/em> and Warzone<\/em> suggests the multiple development\u00a0studios under Activision have a lot more content in the pipeline. Players will no doubt keep coming back and finding interesting quirks in the games, such as a recent Warzone<\/em> trick that lets players land without parachutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n
