Ever since it launched, it feels as if new controversies involving\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>have been popping up rather frequently. Despite being very popular and financially successful, especially on PC<\/a>, the initial launch came under fire for being riddled with bugs, glitches, and performance issues, particularly on the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions and its reputation continues to take hits.<\/p>\n

However, the latest issue that has arisen doesn’t necessarily involve\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>itself or CD Projekt, at least not directly. Instead, the source of the problem is a large mural depicting player character V<\/a> (specifically the male one), which was painted along the side of the\u00a0Sao Bento condominium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.<\/p>\n

Production company NaLata was responsible for the artwork, having paid the owner of the condominium to use two blind gables for the mural. Work on the 20ft mural started around November and was completed\u00a0at least before the end of 2020. It initially garnered some positive press, with even the city’s official Twitter account praising it, though that post has since been deleted.<\/p>\n

As for why it’s caused a commotion, that’s because it technically violates\u00a0Sao Paulo’s clean city laws. Said laws forbid most outdoor advertisements, such as giant ads and logos. While the mural didn’t depict the game’s logo, it was clearly deemed to be an advert for the game and thus it has since been removed. What’s more, NaLata has been issued a fine of $75,000 in US dollars. NaLata and CD Projekt have yet to comment.<\/p>\n
