Game Freak broke new ground with the release of Pok\u00e9mon X and Y<\/a> in October of 2013. It marked the first time that the gaming giant had a simultaneous release of games across all key regions globally. Additionally, X & Y added, “Mega Evolution,” which allowed 30 fully evolved Pok\u00e9mon to take an additional step of development.<\/p>\n

The important question for fans, however, remained the same. Would the new roster of Pok\u00e9mon be good? The answer turned out to be “Yes!” The regional Pok\u00e9dex for Gen 6 was fantastic and turned out to include some of the favorite creatures in the Pok\u00e9verse. Let’s take a look at the strongest Pok\u00e9mon in X & Y by stats.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Avalugg<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Avalugg is a pure Ice-type Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> with a base stat total of 514. Unfortunately, it’s also a classic case of “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” While Avalugg’s HP, Attack, and Defense stats are incredible, everything else is so painfully lacking (particularly Special Defense) that it suffers because of it. None of its Abilities are really noteworthy either. Combing these points with Ice being a terrible defensive type means you have quite the questionable mix on your hands.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Tyrantrum and Aurorus<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

These are the 2 Fossil Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> for Gen 6. Tyrantrum is a Rock\/Dragon-type Pok\u00e9mon and Aurorus is a Rock\/Ice-type, both sharing a base stat total of 521. These are both very solid choices for your team. They both get 2 good abilities each, have strong offensive typings, good movepools, and well-distributed stats. Their only real drawback is that they both have horrible typings defensively, but if you’re fine with this, this duo will not disappoint you.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Sylveon<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Sylveon is a pure Fairy-type Pok\u00e9mon with a base stat total of 525. Sylveon has very good HP, Special Attack, and Special Defense stats. Pure Fairy is also a fantastic type both offensively and defensively.<\/p>\n

Cute Charm and Pixilate are both\u00a0helpful Abilities, with the latter being the better of the two. Sylveon’s biggest drawback is that it lacks variety with its attacking moves, forcing it to use the same types a lot when attacking.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Chesnaught and Greninja<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Chesnaught is the fully evolved version of Gen 6’s<\/a> Grass-type starter, Chespin with Greninja being its Water-type equivalent. They both share a base stat total of 530. Chesnaught is a Grass\/Fighting-type with its HP, Attack, and Defense stats being pretty high. Its typing is very half and half, coming with a lot of resistances and weaknesses. Greninja is a Water\/Dark-type with high attacking and speed stats. Greninja is a decently versatile Pok\u00e9mon thanks to it being a mixed attacker and having a decent movepool. Protean is also a fantastic ability, giving it an even better offensive edge.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Gogoat<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Gogoat is a pure Grass-type Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> with a base stat total of 531. Gogoat acts as a mixed attacker with really high HP and average to bad defenses. The movepool takes advantage of its mixed attacking stats, as it can learn good moves on both sides. However, pure Grass comes with a lot of weaknesses and Gogoat is on the slow side, so it’s relatively easy to KO.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Delphox<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Delphox is the fully evolved Fire-type starter for Gen 6<\/a>, boasting a base stat total of 534. While its Fire\/Psychic typing gives it 5 weaknesses, the 7 resistances it’s given is truly something to appreciate, making the typing good overall. The stats are fantastic, as Delphox is fast, has a very high Special Attack, and can take hits on the Special side very well. It has a decent movepool on top of all of this too, making it a very useful Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Noivern<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Noivern is a Flying\/Dragon-type Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> with a base stat total of 535. Noivern is incredibly fast and has a high Special Attack, making it a very reliable offensive threat. Unfortunately, this does come with also being extremely frail, as despite having decent HP, the defenses are lacking. Noivern is also incredibly weak to Ice-type Moves. Its movepool is diverse, however, allowing it to completely take advantage of its offensive focus.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Florges<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Florges is a pure Fairy-type Pok\u00e9mon with a base stat total of 552. Florges is an unfortunate case. It has excellent stats, featuring incredible Special Attack and Special Defense with some decent HP and pure Fairy is an excellent type. The problem with Florges comes in the form of its movepool and abilities. Its abilities are only usable in Double Battles, making them completely useless in Singles, and Florges has next to no type variety offensively, giving it little to no coverage of any kind.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Goodra, Zygrade, Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

This 5-way tie features Gen 6’s Pseudo-Legendary Pok\u00e9mon, Goodra, and 4 genuine Legendary Pok\u00e9mon, all sharing 600 as their base stat total. Goodra is an excellent Pok\u00e9mon just in general, having a great type, move variety, and stats, although you do have to work hard to evolve it.<\/p>\n

Zygarde has a great type combination and lovely stats all around. The same qualities are true for Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion as well, making all of the Pok\u00e9mon here worth using.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Xerneas and Yveltal<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Xerneas and Yveltal are the mascot Legendary Pok\u00e9mon for X and Y, with Xerneas being a pure Fairy-type and Yveltal being a Dark\/Flying-type. Despite having 680 points to distribute in their stats, both Pok\u00e9mon use them in the same way, featuring wonderful HP, and attacking stats, with everything else being good at worst. Xerneas can boost its power up to terrifying levels thanks to its ability Fairy Aura and the excellent stat boosting move that is Geomancy, and Yveltal gets a similar ability in Dark Aura, as well as an HP draining move called Oblivion Wing, allowing it to last longer in battle.<\/p>\n
