While Shiny Pokemon can be found in the wild in most\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> games, players have discovered different methods to increase their chances of finding Shiny Pokemon over the years, such as Pokeradar chaining in\u00a0<em>Diamond <\/em>and<em> Pearl<\/em>,\u00a0chain fishing and the Friend Safari in\u00a0<em>X<\/em> and<em>\u00a0Y<\/em>, and using the S.O.S. system in\u00a0<em>Sun <\/em>and<em> Moon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Like other mainline\u00a0games,\u00a02019&#8217;s\u00a0<em><strong>Pokemon Sword <\/strong><\/em>and <em><strong>Shield<\/strong><\/em> introduced new shiny hunting methods,\u00a0and its DLC\u00a0added Dynamax Adventures as another option on top of battling a Pokemon species 500 times to increase its Shiny odds. However, just over a year after the games&#8217; initial release, it seems a\u00a0player has\u00a0discovered a new Shiny hunting method in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-sword\/\">Sword<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-shield\/\"><em>Shield<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-oranguru-shiny\/\">Pokemon Sword and Shield\u00a0Player Catches Incredibly Rare Shiny<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Twitter user Sibuna_Switch posted a video of themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-find-evolve-location-feebas-milotic\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">catching a Shiny Feebas<\/a> in\u00a0<em>Pokemon Sword <\/em>and<em> Shield<\/em>\u00a0on December 22, which usually has a 1 percent encounter rate. Factoring in that 1 percent rate with the base Shiny odds of 1\/4096 makes the fish Pokemon\u00a0an incredibly rare Shiny, but Sibuna_Switch explains they were able to find Shiny Feebas more easily at a 13.16 percent encounter rate simply by following\u00a0their Pokedex&#8217;s recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sibuna_Switch\/status\/1341607457706156032?ref_src=https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-shiny-hunt-method-january-2021\/twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1341607457706156032%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fpokemon%2Fnew-pokemon-sword-shield-shiny-method-discovered-over-a-year-after-release-1493609%2F%22 frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Sword and Shield<\/em> introduced a feature to the Pokedex that shows a list of Pokemon the player should go catch, and most players didn&#8217;t realize that the Pokemon recommended have\u00a0higher chances of appearing in the wild, greatly <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-shiny-raid-event\/\">speeding up the process of Shiny hunting<\/a>. This method increases the chances of Pokemon appearing, not the chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon. Now dubbed the &#8220;Dex rec&#8221; method, players\u00a0can open up their Pokedex, go to the &#8220;Current Recommendations&#8221; section, and navigate to an area containing one of the Pokemon listed to encounter\u00a0that it much\u00a0more often\u00a0than usual. Additionally, if players aren&#8217;t satisfied with the Pokemon being recommended, they can re-roll the recommendations if they have a complete Pokedex.<\/p>\n<p>To re-roll Pokedex recommendations, players simply need to find a Max Raid Den, select the &#8220;Invite Others&#8221; option, then change their Nintendo Switch&#8217;s date and time to one day ahead, and go back to their game to see new recommendations in their Pokedex. This way, players can re-roll their chances of being recommended a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-shiny-gyarados-reaction\/\">Pokemon they want to Shiny hunt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-diamond-pearl-remake-2021-leaker-tease\/\">chances of\u00a0<em>Pokemon Diamond <\/em>and<em> Pearl<\/em> remakes<\/a> on the horizon, players are still enjoying aspects of\u00a0<em>Sword <\/em>and\u00a0<i>Shield<\/i> well after their release.
