In just a few days the MCU will be back on everyone\u2019s minds as WandaVision<\/em> puts an end to Marvel’s<\/strong> long and partly involuntary hiatus. As Disney\u2019s 2020 Investors Day showed, the MCU and Star Wars<\/em> play a huge part<\/a> in the studio\u2019s plans for the next decade and they are not improvising their way through things.<\/p>\n

2021 is set to feature at least four Marvel<\/a> films, starting with Black Widow<\/em> and wrapping up the year with Spider-Man 3<\/em>; while Disney Plus\u2019 growing list of exclusives will bring a whole new set of stories and miniseries to go along with that, like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em>, Loki<\/em>, What If…?<\/em>, Ms. Marvel<\/em> and Hawkeye<\/em>, most of which put forward novel ways of portraying characters from the MCU according to the studios\u2019 long-term plans.<\/p>\n

For a better outlook on just how Marvel Studios comes up with the MCU\u2019s timelines, Collider<\/em> directly asked Kevin Feige what such thought process is like, who went on to detail that \u201cit\u2019s always about 5 to 6 years versus what we\u2019ve announced. So whatever that takes us to.\u201d Currently, that would put potential 2023 picks like Secret Invasion<\/em><\/a>, Armor Wars,<\/em> and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3<\/em> as having been planned since 2017 or 2018.<\/p>\n

The question gains special significance when considering Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, thus highlighting the matter of when Deadpool 3<\/em> and a new X-Men<\/em><\/a> film might be on the way with Marvel Studios at the helm. Addressing that specific issue, Feige mentioned \u201cIt has been heavily discussed, as you might imagine. And we have a good feeling of where it\u2019s going and when it\u2019s going, but all that remains to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the shining lights in Disney\u2019s wave of December announcements was the news that the Fantastic Four<\/em> will be part of the MCU\u2019s Phase Four, probably towards its end. That, coupled with the exciting possibility of how the X-Men and Deadpool blend in with the rest of the Marvel heroes will surely keep the studio occupied for the next 10 years or so.<\/p>\n

Starting with WandaVision<\/em><\/a>, Marvel\u2019s Phase Four is set to usher in a new age where audiences are treated to 4-5 films and even Disney Plus exclusives each year, something Feige and Marvel Studios have been gearing up for years now. After such a long break, the MCU is in prime position to carefully plan content for an entire generation and they\u2019re already quite far along in doing so.<\/p>\n
