As announced after\u00a0Jurrasic World Evolution\u00a0<\/em>was cycled out for\u00a0Crying Suns\u00a0<\/em>last week, the\u00a0Epic Games Store<\/strong> is officially offering one of the biggest free games it has ever given away to date. As of right now,\u00a0Star Wars Battlefront 2<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is officially available free of charge for anyone with an Epic Games Store account,\u00a0with the shooter coming complete with\u00a0its Celebration Edition<\/em> content, which includes more than\u00a025\u00a0hero skins and\u00a0Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>cosmetics.<\/p>\n

The title will have no price tag for a week, with the special set to end on January 21 at 8 AM PT, at which time it will be cycled out for a new game. As always, next week’s offering\u00a0has also been revealed, with the\u00a0Epic Games Store<\/a> announcing that\u00a0Galactic Civilizations 3\u00a0<\/em>will take\u00a0Star Wars Battlefront 2’s\u00a0<\/em>spot as the next free title.<\/p>\n

For those who didn’t play\u00a0Star Wars Battlefront 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>at release, the 2017\u00a0shooter offers a range of multiplayer modes and maps based on\u00a0each era of the\u00a0massively popular sci-fi franchise. Unlike EA’s first reboot of the\u00a0Battlefront\u00a0<\/em>series, that means players can fight through levels from the prequel era, including Geonosis, Naboo, and\u00a0Kamino. They’ll also get access to maps based on the most recent trilogy of films, such as Crait, Ajan Kloss, and Starkiller Base. The game also features a campaign mode, with a canonical story centering around\u00a0a\u00a0squadron of elite\u00a0Empire troopers\u00a0in the events following the conclusion of\u00a0Return of the Jedi.<\/em><\/p>\n

As for next week’s game,\u00a0Galactic Civilizations 3\u00a0<\/em>is a comprehensive sci-fi strategy game<\/a>, with players picking from a selection of\u00a0unique alien species and making a bid to dominate the galaxy. Using espionage, diplomacy, warfare, technological advancements,\u00a0and more, players will have to carve a name for themselves through the far reaches of space, communicating\u00a0with other civilizations\u00a0and attempting\u00a0to surpass them. It was originally released in 2015 and is the third entry in the series, with\u00a0Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords\u00a0<\/em>launching all the way back in 2006.<\/p>\n

It seems now is the best time for\u00a0Star Wars Battlefront 2\u00a0<\/em>to be available to countless players considering the series has recently made headlines, with the newly formed Lucasfilm Games\u00a0confirming that EA’s exclusive rights to the\u00a0license\u00a0have now ended. Going forward, a number of different studios will work on\u00a0experiences\u00a0set in the expansive sci-fi universe, with Ubisoft announcing it’s in the early stages of crafting an open-world\u00a0Star Wars<\/em> game<\/a>. Clearly, fans can get ready for some huge\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0<\/em>titles slated to land in the next few years.<\/p>\n
