One modder decided to find out what would happen\u00a0if they put the two together, and the resulting project featuring Mario with guns is exactly what it sounds like.<\/p>\n<p>Originally released in 1997,\u00a0<em>GoldenEye 007<\/em>\u00a0is a game that changed the FPS genre. Many gamers regarding it as one of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-arena-shooters-ranked\/\">the best shooters of all time<\/a>, and community support for the game remains\u00a0alive and well as can be seen with this\u00a0unlikely\u00a0mashup.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/next-james-bond-surprising-choice\/\">The Next James Bond Could Be A Surprising Choice<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/goldeneye-007\/\"><em>GoldenEye 007<\/em><\/a> modder and YouTuber Graslu00 uploaded an original mission that takes place in Peach&#8217;s Castle from\u00a0<em>Super Mario 64<\/em>. The over nine-minute long clip begins with Mario in the same spot he&#8217;d be in his own respective game, except this time he&#8217;s packing a silenced PP7. The impressive-looking video sees the Nintendo mascot advance into the castle, where he&#8217;s met by a gang of well-armed Koopa Troopas.<\/p>\n<p>While none of the actual\u00a0<em>Super Mario 64<\/em> levels are accessible, the mission progresses much in the same way as the original game. Mario&#8217;s ultimate objective is still to defeat Bowser, facing him shortly after each Big Star Door. After leaving a trail of bodies and tracking down the legendary Golden Gun, Mario one-shots the Koopa King, completing the mission.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tmDXs_voRTA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;width:1280;height:720;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The humorous mod looks technically impressive, appearing to run at a smooth 60 FPS. The custom level blends together elements from both classic N64 titles into something all its own. However, it&#8217;s far from the first time Peach&#8217;s Castle has shown up in games it has no business being in. This particular iteration of <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-mario-64-peachs-castle-warframe\/\">the castle recently made its way into Warframe<\/a> thanks to a player&#8217;s use of the Clan Dojo feature.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond splicing elements of\u00a0<em>GoldenEye 007<\/em> with other games, there have been numerous attempts to see the title revamped for the current era. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/goldeneye-fan-remake-shut-down-mgm\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A prominent\u00a0<em>GoldenEye<\/em> fan remake<\/a> that was being made using Unreal Engine 4 was recently shut down, although gamers can still find clips of it online.<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>GoldenEye 007<\/em> retains a fiercely loyal fanbase, so much so that its a common sentiment\u00a0to think every 007 game since has not measured up. After\u00a0a nearly decade-long drought, it was recently announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/io-interactive-hiring-007-video-game\/\">IO Interactive is hiring for a 007 video game project<\/a>.
