Hitman 3<\/strong><\/em> is coming soon to consoles and PCs on January 20. It’s one of the most anticipated video games of 2021<\/a>, and it will be available almost everywhere. But for those looking to pick it up on the Epic Games Store, there’s a big catch involved.<\/p>\n

Hitman 3\u00a0<\/em>is the third and final installment of the\u00a0World of Assassination trilogy. Agent 47 has been through a lot in the last two games, and he’s looking to finish the job in this final game.\u00a0This game will be available on consoles and through the Epic Games Store on PC, but this is problematic for those who purchased the other\u00a0Hitman\u00a0<\/em>titles on Steam, which will not have the third game available for pre-order. With the Epic Games Store’s exclusivity<\/a>,\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>Steam owners will have to purchase the game all over again.<\/p>\n

One of the key features of\u00a0Hitman 3<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is not only being able to import saves from previous games, but also being able to play the levels of\u00a0Hitman 1\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>if players already own the games. But if players have purchased\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>through Steam, then pre-order\u00a0Hitman 3\u00a0<\/em>through the Epic Games Store, they will have to purchase\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>again through Epic in order to have access to those levels.<\/p>\n

If players pre-order or purchase\u00a0Hitman 3\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>before January 30, they will get\u00a0Hitman 1 Game of the Year Edition\u00a0<\/em>along with the DLC\u00a0for free, so they don’t have to worry about repurchasing the first. Also, players with a save file from Steam’s\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>will be able to bring over their characters to the EGS’s version without an issue. But to get those\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>levels, and to be able to play through them again, players will have to buy the second installment again through Epic.<\/p>\n

While getting\u00a0Hitman 1 GOTY\u00a0<\/em>as a Hitman 3<\/em> pre-order bonus<\/a> is a pretty good deal, it loses something when coupled with the fact that\u00a0Hitman 2\u00a0<\/em>will have to be repurchased. And, knowing that players would have to re-buy it when coming from Steam, the Epic Games Store is putting the second game\u00a080% off for the first two weeks after\u00a0Hitman 3<\/em>‘s launch. But for many players, this sale leaves a bad taste in their mouths.<\/p>\n

However, if players are not interested in reliving all of Agent 47’s past<\/a>, they can purchase the game through the EGS without hesitation. Also, those who own the games through consoles won’t have to worry about this either; those saves and levels will transfer over without an issue.<\/p>\n

Hitman 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will be available on January 20 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n
