However, other forms of customization\u00a0have been popular following the launch of Sony&#8217;s peculiarly-shaped <strong>PlayStation 5<\/strong>. Some fans have taken it upon themselves to do modifications like <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-3d-prints-yu-gi-oh-seto-kaiba-head\/\">3D printing a Seto Kaiba head for their PS5<\/a>, but one console owner recently pointed out a more subtle idea that anyone can potentially use.<\/p>\n<p>The PS5 has been compared to a number of items, including Wi-Fi routers\u00a0and space heaters, and it is the biggest physical console in modern gaming history. While this unusual design has made Sony&#8217;s console the butt of many memes since it was unveiled, the device also has some interesting features because of how it was put together. For example, the white faceplates on either side of the console can be removed, which has led to\u00a0companies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-swappable-faceplates-dbrand-2021\/\">dbrand announcing swappable PS5 faceplates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sony-ps5-biggest-console-modern-video-game-history\/\">Sony&#8217;s PS5 is the Biggest Console in Modern Video Game History<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The corner of one faceplate has a PlayStation logo carved out, exposing the console&#8217;s black innards, and this inspired Reddit user NickChikenNug to post an idea on how to customize one&#8217;s console. In a post to r\/playstation Sunday, which later gained further attention by another user reposting it to r\/gaming, NickChikenNug shows that placing a colored post-it note or some other material in the space that will be exposed by the logo can help <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/ps5\/\">PS5<\/a> owners make\u00a0it any color they want.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/playstation\/comments\/kuxvb5\/take_a_colored_postit_cut_it_like_this_and_get\/?utm_source=share&#038;utm_medium=web2x&#038;context=3\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This idea is not entirely unique, as another Reddit user named TheCookieMonstar\u00a0says decals can be found via\u00a0eBay or the customization site FlamingToast that serve the same purpose &#8211; with one notable decal even replicating the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps2-logo-flip-playstation\/\">classic rainbow PlayStation logo<\/a>. However, NickChikenNug&#8217;s take on using post-it notes turns the idea into a more accessible do-it-yourself project for anyone who has gotten their hands on a PS5.<\/p>\n<p>That userbase may not be huge, as the demand for next-generation consoles has thus far outstripped their supply, leaving many unable to get their hands on a new device even during the holiday season. This lack of supply does not only apply to Sony, as Microsoft&#8217;s Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have also faced shortages, though owners have been just as eager to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/xbox-series-x-spider-man-into-the-spider-verse-kingpin-decal\/\">use decals for customizing the Xbox Series X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As both manufacturers have confirmed intentions to make next-gen console supply steadier in 2021, hopefully more video game fans will have the opportunity to come up with customization projects soon.
