Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> is already being discounted by several different retailers. Just a little over a month after CD Projekt Red’s newest project released,\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>‘s asking price has been cut in half.<\/p>\n

The game has faced a swath of problems since its December release. Bugs and glitches have been pointed out by users, with most of those issues coming on the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Even though\u00a0quite a few of the people involved with Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a> believe the game will be better once the bugs are ironed out, retailers like Amazon and Best Buy are still reducing their asking price.<\/p>\n

Both retailers have slashed the price for Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a> from its original $59.99 to $29.99, though there are some caveats. None of the retailers are offering a reduced price for digital versions. That means owners of the digital-only version of the PS5 or the Xbox Series S can’t take advantage of the sale, since neither of those consoles contain a disk drive. However, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and standard PS5 owners have never been able to get the game for a lower price. There is also the side note that there’s no indication this reduction in the sale price is a permanent move.<\/p>\n

The half-price sales at Best Buy and Amazon come just days after CD Projekt Red came under fire from critics yet again. The latest issues surround a recent report that the footage shown off by the developer at E3 2018 was “faked.” That same report claimed the company hadn’t even finished coding the underlying gameplay systems.<\/p>\n

Studio head\u00a0Adam Badowski recently posted a response to the new report where he seemingly admitted some of the most recent reports around Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a> were accurate. He claimed that “It’s hard for a trade show game demo not to be a test of vision or vertical slice two years before the game ships.”\u00a0However, he\u00a0refuted\u00a0the idea that the footage his company showed was fake.<\/p>\n

Other recent reports claimed that several employees of CD Projekt Red didn’t think the game would release in 2020 based on the progress of the development in 2019. Some reportedly believed it wouldn’t land on consoles until at least 2022. All of these problems around\u00a0the game\u00a0haven’t been missed by members of the business community. All of the issues, including at least one lawsuit filed against\u00a0the developer, have industry analysts thinking Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> could\u00a0lead to a\u00a0buyout<\/a> or hostile takeover of CD Projekt Red. For now, retailers dealing with the company will just see a hit to the bottom line when it comes to sales.<\/p>\n

Cyberpunk 2o77<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is now available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with dedicated PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S versions in development.<\/p>\n
