It has been speculated for a while now that a new and improved Nintendo Switch model is in the works and fans can’t wait to see what Nintendo has to offer.<\/p>\n

Nintendo fans have been coming up with names for the company’s\u00a0next console, such as Switch Pro<\/a>, Switch 2, Super Switch. It’d be an understatement to say that people aren’t excited, even though Nintendo hasn’t\u00a0commented on this possibility.<\/p>\n

Either way, with rumors of a Nintendo Direct in the near future, it’s hard not to think about what might be in store when it comes to an enhanced Switch.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Want:\u00a0Higher Resolution<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Switch’s screen is a 1280×720 screen. Definitely better than the Wii U GamePad’s screen, which is only 854×480. However, it’s hard to believe the console’s screen isn’t 1920×1080. The Switch has such beautiful games that would take advantage of a screen with a better resolution.<\/p>\n

Nintendo does\u00a0many things right so it’s a shame that an undocked Switch\u00a0only runs games at 720p. There are definitely improvements that could be made to\u00a0the system’s hardware.\u00a0A “Switch Pro<\/a>” would be the perfect candidate\u00a0to try it on.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Don’t Want: Loading<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Loading screens are so last-gen, right? It’s time to forget they ever even existed.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, there are several games on the Switch that take particularly long to load. Particularly\u00a0Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/em>,\u00a0Sid Meier’s Civilization 6<\/em>,\u00a0Minecraft<\/em>, among many others.\u00a0Turning on the console and getting into any of these games might feel like a bit of a drag after playing on next-gen hardware such as the Xbox Series X\/S or the PS5<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s time for Nintendo to step up their game and say goodbye to 3-minute long loading screens.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Want: Improved Battery Life<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Nintendo has been working on improving the Switch’s battery life for a while now. The original Switch, from 2017, well, its battery will last between 2.5 and 6.5 hours, according to Nintendo’s website<\/a>. However, the Switch Lite will last between 3 and 7 hours. Whereas the most recent Switch model (serial number begins with “XKW”) will last between 4.5 and 9 hours. The newest model is significantly better than the other two.<\/p>\n

To take it a step further it would be even better though. So, if Nintendo manages to pull off an increase in the battery life it would be very welcomed.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Don’t Want: Low-Quality Kickstand<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Playing in tabletop mode was one of the great things about the Switch. If gamers didn’t have access to a TV but still wanted to play with their Pro Controllers or using detached Joy-Cons, they could just use the kickstand and play as if they were playing on the TV.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the kickstand isn’t that sturdy, and those who’ve used it have most likely noticed how fragile it feels.\u00a0So,\u00a0something that could definitely be improved on a new console would be the quality of the kickstand.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Want: OLED Screen<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Nintendo has always mastered portable consoles and it is certain they’ll keep making them. It’d be a real shame to miss a chance to see a Switch console take advantage of a beautiful OLED screen when it’s such a good console.<\/p>\n

One of the things fans most loved about the PS Vita was its gorgeous OLED screen. A year ago, a Reddit user decided to compare the two<\/a> side by side, and the difference between the Vita’s OLED screen and the Switch’s LCD is quite noticeable.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Don’t Want: TV-Only Console<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The main thing about the Switch is\u00a0how versatile it actually is. It’s great to use as a home console as well as a portable console to take everywhere and it’s awesome to switch between the two.<\/p>\n

However, it\u00a0might prove difficult to upgrade the hardware so much and still keep the console’s portability. It would be a real shame to lose this aspect. Plus, it’s no secret that it being portable is a big selling point for the Switch, hence why the Nintendo Switch Lite sold so well, despite coming out 2 years after the original Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Want:\u00a0Improved Dock<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

It’s great to see how customizable the Switch’s dock is. There have been special edition consoles with different docks and players even create their own Switch docks. However,\u00a0there are a few problems regarding the dock.<\/p>\n

There have been several reported cases of the dock actually scratching the console itself and the console’s screen. This has upset fans\u00a0and makes it stressful to place the Switch in the dock. This didn’t happen with the Wii U’s cradle. Of course, there are many\u00a0differences between the Wii U’s charging cradle and the Switch’s dock. But, it’d be great to see a modified cradle that also supports the HDMI features.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Don’t Want: Over $400 Price-tag<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Those interested in getting the current Nintendo Switch model<\/a> will need $299.99, however, the Nintendo Switch Lite is usually sold for $199.99<\/a>. If a new, enhanced, Switch model were to come out, a price-tag between $350 and $400 would be the most affordable option, taking into account the prices of the Xbox Series X\/S and the PS5.<\/p>\n

On top of that, it would make sense for the current model to go down to $250. It’s been out for almost 4 years now without a price drop, if a new model was to replace it,\u00a0a price reduction would only be logical.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Want:\u00a04K Ready<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Both Playstation and Xbox consoles have moved on to 4K resolution for a while now. However, Nintendo systems have yet to make that jump.<\/p>\n

The Switch is an innovative and unique piece of tech as well as extremely versatile, whether fans use it as a portable console or as their home console. Still, the console’s resolution is 720p handheld and 1080p in TV mode. Seeing as a lot of gamers are upgrading to 4K televisions, it’s time for Nintendo to take the next step and create a console that is 4K ready<\/a>. And if it was HDR-capable it wouldn’t hurt either.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Don’t Want: Drift<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Joycon drift<\/a> is what most Switch owners dread. Once the analog sticks start to move slightly on their own, it won’t take long before players find their\u00a0Animal Crossing<\/em> character running wild by themselves.<\/p>\n

Several lawsuits have been issued regarding Joycon drifting problems. Although it’s not as common, Pro Controllers are experiencing drift as well.\u00a0And Nintendo may be fixing Joycon drift for free (not Pro Controller drift), the problem is the controllers having to be fixed in the first place. Hopefully, the next Nintendo console\u00a0will feature better-quality controllers.<\/p>\n
