Call of Duty<\/em> is an incredibly notable series. A rich history and stunning visuals, it’s hard to notice some of it’s problems. Shooting, stabbing, and otherwise causing harm<\/a> against terrorists leaves this series as a violent escape for those seeking it.<\/p>\n

But for those seeking a good story, Call Of Duty<\/em> can alienate some of its fans. With inconsistent qualities of writing and common game mechanics<\/a> that take players out of the immersion, plot holes come in many forms. While even the best stories are prone to plot holes, they are still worth mentioning.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Makarov In The Airport<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

During the exciting yet dark<\/a> events of Modern Warfare 2,<\/em> players will, most likely, take part in the mission “No Russian.” Fans of the series consider this to be the most famous video game level in history. Though\u00a0not necessarily for a good reason.\u00a0 While operating as a covert CIA agent, players come face to face with Makarov. The objective is to create a terrorist event. But without appearing as a Russian. The plot hole lies with Makarov showing his face in a Russian airport. Makarov, at this time in the series, is a well known Russian Extremist. Makarov is recognizable. But he doesn’t wear any sort of mask.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>KVA In Advanced Warfare<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The terrorist bad-guys of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare\u00a0<\/em>go by the name “KVA.” While the three letters may sound like the initials for an elite organization, writers didn’t have time to figure out what those three words might be. Kind Vegans Associated? Killable Villains Alumni? Thankfully the KVA do not waste the players’ time as the real bad guy. While KVA may appear ominous, it may just be a sign of poor writing or lack of interest.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Sleeper Agents And Toxic Gas<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

During the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops<\/em>, it is revealed that Ruskies have secret sleeper agents within the United States. They also plan on bombing the U.S. with nerve gas and letting their sleeper agents run amok. What is the point of sleeper agents if everyone is dying of poisonous gas? The Dragonovich plan was never a conventional terrorist plan, but it speaks to the lack of logic within their ranks.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Joseph Allan And Makarov<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Near the end of the famed “No Russian” mission, Joseph Allan is killed for being an undercover CIA operative. At the end, superiors explain that Joseph Allan’s death caused the CIA to lose their intel. They didn’t already know it was Makarov? During the entire time undercover, Allan never once gave his superiors any type of intel on his current situation. The Central Intelligence Agency has no intelligence on the most important man in the world. Along with Makarov showing his face in the airport, Allan didn’t appear to do his job effectively.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Most of Black Ops 3<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The entire fifteen-hour campaign of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3\u00a0<\/em>takes place within the mind of the dead protagonist<\/a>. With little explanation as to the reasoning behind the story, Black Ops 3 appears to miss its mark as an incoherent entry in an otherwise famed list of Call of Duty games. Robots, Zombies, and the lack of relation to previous installments makes this entire campaign a plot hole in the entire franchise. Though many fans have enjoyed its incredibly fast-paced multiplayer modes<\/a> and gameplay.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Odin Is Compromised<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

At the beginning of Call of Duty: Ghosts, <\/em>the United States owns and operates an immense satellite known as Odin. Arguably one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment the U.S. has ever had, it seems only fitting that the story’s villain manages to destroy it.<\/p>\n

The fall of Odin sets the entire plot of Ghosts into frame. Unfortunately, this initial cause of plot kills the immersion for many fans. The federation’s ability to destroy Odin so quickly with almost no resistance makes no sense.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Reznov In Prison<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Reznov is a beloved character in the Black Ops franchise. But his abilities are too powerful to make much sense. When Mason is imprisoned,<\/a> Reznov, a fellow prisoner, makes his way through the many halls of the prison with almost no resistance.<\/p>\n

Why does he choose to go back to his cell? Reznov certainly has the ability to fend for himself; as seen throughout the mission. Sadly, Reznov becomes a plot device for an otherwise wonderful Call of Duty entry.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Mason Hides For 30 Years<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

An alternate ending to Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2<\/em> saves Alex Mason from death but in a strange way. Players get the option to shoot<\/a>, what appears to be, the main villain of the game wearing a sack over his head. It is later revealed to be Alex Mason. But he only shows up thirty years later. Instead of going home and telling everyone what happened, Mason stays in hiding for thirty years. Alex Mason may be a fantastic protagonist, but he is definitely not a great father.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Rourke Survives<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

At the end of the Ghosts campaign, the main character of the entry shoots Rourke, the villain, in the chest. Blood shoots out of the man’s chest and the train the player is on crashes. The main protagonist and his brother rest on a beach as they watch the aftermath of their actions. Then, Rourke suddenly appears and grabs the protagonist by the leg, and steals him away. End of game. While this may be an exciting cliffhanger that will never get resolved, Rourke was shot point-blank in the chest. Unless he’s Wolverine from the X-Men, this is a plot hole.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Shepherd’s Betrayal<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

While there are many discussions and arguments about the events of Modern Warfare 2, Shepherd’s sudden betrayal leaves little to talk about. While there is technically an explanation for his behavior, it greatly combats Shepherd’s own morals and beliefs by killing the heroes involved in Modern Warfare 2. On one hand, Shepherd wins extravagant wealth through his actions. On the other hand, he will bring America to it’s “former might.” These two ideas contrast each other morally. Yet Shepherd betrays Roach and Ghost all the same.<\/p>\n
