And although Generation 7 skipped out on introducing new fossil\u00a0Pokemon for whatever reason, Generation 8 both <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-fossil-pokemon-ranked\/\">introduced new fossil\u00a0Pokemon<\/a>\u00a0as well as gave fans an interesting twist on the concept, allowing players to mix and match fossils to create 4 different\u00a0Pokemon: Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish.<\/p>\n<p>Another surprise\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> threw at fans this year was a new take on the anime, with <strong><em>Pokemon Journeys<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0having Ash and his friends travel to different regions from episode to episode, as opposed to spending an entire season in the newest\u00a0region. This has allowed Ash to build up quite an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/ash-reunited-alolan-team-pokemon-journeys\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interesting team of <em>Pokemon<\/em> so far,<\/a>\u00a0and now with the series&#8217; 50th episode recently airing in Japan, the anime has given Ash his 5th\u00a0new addition,\u00a0the Galar fossil\u00a0Pokemon Dracovish.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-red-twitter-avatar-crowd-controlled-game-misty-win\/\">Crowd-Controlled Pokemon Red Playable Twitter Avatar Beats Misty&#8217;s Gym<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-journeys\/\"><em>Pokemon Journeys<\/em><\/a> episode\u00a0&#8220;Galar Fossils! Stick &#8216;Em Together!,&#8221; Ash and co. visit the Galar region once again, where they encounter two researchers, including Cara Liss, who appears as a clumsy\u00a0scientist in\u00a0<em>Pokemon Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em>. Chaos ensues when the group begins to combine fossils, and while Ash&#8217;s travel companion Goh catches a Boldore, the pair are gifted their own fossil\u00a0Pokemon, with Goh receiving an Arctozolt and Ash notably receiving a Dracovish.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ThePokeRaf\/status\/1348989511687155713\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While Ash was expected to obtain at least one more\u00a0Pokemon in\u00a0<em>Pokemon Journeys<\/em> to\u00a0gain a complete team, Dracovish is a notable addition for several reasons. Dracovish marks the first fossil\u00a0Pokemon Ash has ever officially obtained, and the new monster\u00a0is also Ash&#8217;s first<i>\u00a0<\/i>Pokemon\u00a0originally discovered in the Galar region, not counting his Galarian Farfetch&#8217;d. On Twitter, user ThePokeRaf noted that Ash receiving Dracovish has marked\u00a0the longest gap between the start of a new series of the\u00a0<em>Pokemon<\/em> anime and Ash obtaining a Pokemon from the newest generation as well. Additionally, it just so happens that Dracovish is <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-best-competitive\/\">one of the strongest and most popular Pokemon<\/a> in competitive\u00a0<em>Sword<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Shield<\/em> play.<\/p>\n<p>The Water and Dragon-type Pokemon has a lot going for it, only being weak to\u00a0Dragon and Fairy-type attacks while resisting many others. Dracovish is even <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/every-pseudo-legendary-pokemon-ranked\/\">more popular than some pseudo-legendary Pokemon,<\/a> like Hydreigon. Additionally, Dracovish&#8217;s Strong Jaw ability powers up biting attacks like Crunch, as well as\u00a0its signature move, Fishous Rend, which also doubles in power if Dracovish moves before the opponent.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how Ash&#8217;s Dracovish develops over time and if Ash gains any more additions to his party after the new fossil Pokemon.
