That being said, there are some weapons that serve the player far more effectively in battle. Weapons that just about any average player can pick up and wield with relative efficiency. There are also weapons that just simply aren\u2019t as effective in battle. Here are the best and worst weapons of destruction Mordhau <\/em>has to offer.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Best: Throwing Knives<\/h2>\n

Ranged weapons tend to be overlooked in this game and this isn\u2019t entirely without merit. They cost ammo and don\u2019t deal as much damage. There is one ranged weapon however that rises above the rest and can even be more useful than many of the melee weapons.<\/p>\n

Throwing Knives are great for quickly taking out unarmored opponents thanks to their decent damage. Even against heavily armored foes they\u2019re handy thanks to their fast priming and throwing speeds. Throwing Knives also don\u2019t take that many build points to become proficient with. They will never be\u00a0someone’s main weapon, but they are the most useful ranged weapons in the game.<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Never Use: Blacksmith Hammer<\/h2>\n

The Blacksmith Hammer is primarily meant to be a repairing tool. When used in this fashion they are very useful and can serve the player well. But as a weapon, they are extremely lackluster. In fact, the player really shouldn\u2019t even consider these as weapons.<\/p>\n

Obviously having something is better than nothing, but the Blacksmith Hammer lacks the reach, damage, and stopping power to be an effective weapon. Players should stick with repairs and only use this terrible hammer<\/a> in desperate situations.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Best: Greatsword<\/h2>\n

The Greatsword is a fantastic weapon for various situations. It has a relatively fast attack for its size, offers different combat styles<\/a>, and deals great damage. It also doesn\u2019t cost many points allowing for better armor.<\/p>\n

If players are unsure which weapon they should be using, the Greatsword makes for a great default choice. In fact, many of the more experienced players cite this powerful sword<\/a> as their weapon of choice. Learning to use this weapon will benefit the player no matter their skill level.<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Never Use: Quarterstaff<\/h2>\n

Taking a wooden blunt weapon into medieval battle<\/a> would rarely be a good idea in real-life and in Mordhau <\/em>this remains true. There\u2019s a reason it\u2019s associated with training and helping peasants walk around, it\u2019s not meant to be a weapon and shouldn\u2019t be treated as such.<\/p>\n

Admittedly, the Quarterstaff has a high reach and a lot of speed. It also has a very low point cost allowing players to grab other items. But when it comes time to dealing damage, it\u2019s abysmally low. Highly experienced players may be able to knock enemies around with this weapon, but even they will find themselves wishing for something a little stronger.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Best: Zweihander<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Zweihander is essentially a very long Greatsword. As such it has a greater reach and more damage potential in battle. A player trained with this weapon and thick armor can be very dangerous on the frontlines of combat.<\/p>\n

It does cost a bit more and will prevent the player from wearing as much armor as they would with other weapons. It can also be slow at times. However, players familiar with its speed and comfortable going in with less armor than usual can quickly cut their enemies down with this weapon.<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Never Use: Wooden Mallet<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Wooden Mallet is essentially the Blacksmith Hammer but with less damage potential. It is the cheapest and least effective repair tool in the game and absolutely awful as a weapon. There\u2019s a reason these are found littered throughout the medieval maps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Once again the adage that a weapon is better than no weapon applies here. The main benefit of the Wooden Mallet is that they\u2019re readily available on any map. But only a foolish player would drop their weapon to use one of these in combat.<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Best: Eveningstar<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

For many players, the Eveningstar is the best weapon in the game. It has incredible stamina management and it takes quite a bit to disarm an opponent wielding this weapon. With a full strike, it can also kill even the most heavily armored units in two hits.<\/p>\n

It does have some limitations in team fights and doesn\u2019t have the best range. But for players dueling or bashing it out on the frontlines, this may be the best option available to them.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Never Use: Training Sword<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The Training Sword was designed to be used in practice with minimal risk of killing the sparring opponent. This means it has horrible damage and not the greatest range. This weapon was never meant to see use in a battle to the death in online multiplayer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t mean a kill can\u2019t be accomplished with this weapon. It does deal damage and a patient and skilled player can put it to use. However, if the player is going against anyone with any kind of armor, weapon, or skill level,\u00a0using the Training Sword is almost a guaranteed loss.<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Best: Halberd<\/h2>\n

An argument could be made that the Halberd is the single best weapon in this multiplayer game<\/a>. It has excellent reach, high damage, and is very versatile. In fact, many players will intentionally train with this weapon to be able to handle just about any threat.<\/p>\n

That range is one of the reasons it\u2019s the best weapon. Whether fighting a single opponent or a group of people,\u00a0the Halberd is good at keeping foes at a distance while still dealing damage. Many experienced frontline fighters use this weapon and for good reason.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Never Use: Rock<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Easily the worst weapon in the entire game is the Rock. It deals very low damage, has low projectile speed, and can even be dropped if the player is hit by a melee strike. On top of that, the player can only carry five of them.<\/p>\n

Even a Training Sword would be a better option as the player can get more than five strikes in. That said, Rocks are commonly found and are good at getting someone\u2019s attention or causing distractions. But as far as lethality is concerned, they\u2019re at the bottom of the totem pole.<\/p>\n
