Since then Netflix has gone on to become one of the continent\u2019s biggest TV networks constantly putting out great content, like its most recent worldwide hit series <em><strong>Lupin<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The French mystery heist plot in <em>Lupin<\/em> combines comedy and drama elements to revive Maurice Leblanc\u2019s short stories and novel character <em>Ars\u00e8ne Lupin<\/em>, a savvy gentleman thief that uses his trickery to get away with some impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/heist-movie-qualities-make-them-good\/\">feats worthy of <em>Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/em><\/a>. This modern take starred by Omar Sy\u2019s (<em>The Intouchables<\/em>), instead puts the main character Assane Diop, the son of a Senegalese immigrant who was framed for a crime he didn\u2019t commit on a quest for the truth all while using all the deception plays he learned from reading Ars\u00e8ne Lupin novels as a kid.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/netflix-shows-witcher-streaming-returning-2021\/\">The Witcher &amp; 9 Other Netflix Shows Returning In 2021<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Like most heist plots, <em>Lupin<\/em> has turned out to be a phenomenal success with Netflix calculating over 70 million households will have seen the series, placing it over other <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cobra-kai-netflix-ratings\/\">highly-streamed shows like <em>Cobra Kai<\/em><\/a>, <em>The Queen\u2019s Gambit<\/em> or <em>Bridgerton<\/em>, after only premiering on January 8. This also puts <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/lupin-part-2-release-date-story\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Lupin<\/em> as the first massively successful French export<\/a> distributed by Netflix as it&#8217;s climbed all the way to the U.S. top 10 with a second season already on the way.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ga0iTWXCGa0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden;width:1280;height:720;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Fully titled <em>Lupin: Dans L\u2019Ombre D\u2019Ars\u00e8ne<\/em> (<em>Lupin: In Ars\u00e8ne\u2019s Shadow<\/em>) and only 5 episodes long, it features directing from Louis Leterrier (<em>The Incredible Hulk<\/em>) for its three episodes and ends with<em> Narcos\u2019<\/em> Marcela Said directing the final two. This is hardly <em>Ars\u00e8ne Lupin\u2019s<\/em> first foray into mass media, as the character is incredibly popular in France and has been featured in comic books, animated series, and several films since his creation over 100 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cobra-kai-netflix-ratings\/\">Netflix\u2019s own data from 2020 shows<\/a>, U.S. audiences are growing more fond of non-English productions such as <em>Narcos<\/em>, <em>Dark,<\/em> and <em>Money Heist<\/em>, proving Netflix\u2019s big bets on overseas content can pay off handsomely all over the world and not just with its\u00a09 million subscribers in France.<\/p>\n<p>With worldwide appeal, an intriguing plot plus great reception from critics and audiences, <strong><em>Lupin<\/em><\/strong> is very much worth watching solely on the grounds of its fantastic Parisian scenery and constant twist and tricks which along Sy\u2019s performance continue to charm viewers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"next-single\">MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/super-smash-bros-ultimate-marvel-dc-fan-project-january-2021\/\">Fan Reimagines Super Smash Bros.
