While the PS5’s library of new games is not yet expansive, games like\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em><\/strong> on the, well, horizon, have players excited. With gorgeous visuals on display and a game that promises to take full advantage of the PS5<\/a>, it’s something to look forward to.<\/p>\n

The release of\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden\u00a0<\/a><\/em>West<\/em><\/a> is still far off in the year, but the devs at Guerrilla Games assure players they are working hard on the game. The other focus on the team, for the past few months, has been the PC port of\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>, the start of the\u00a0Horizon<\/em> series. With\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em> needing more attention, however, Guerrilla announced that work on\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>‘s port will slow down to focus on the sequel.<\/p>\n

Originally a PS4 exclusive, the PC port of Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em> released in August, coming to GOG later on in November<\/a>. While the PS4 version was well received, there were a host of graphical and glitch caused problems in the PC port. Subsequent patches helped with many of these, but with the game relatively stable, Guerrilla released a statement saying that it will not be patching\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em> PC as often. Instead, the team is focusing on\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em> to make sure that it is ready for release.<\/p>\n

One of the worst glitches in\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>‘s PC port was the Windows Key Crash, which crashed the game when the Windows key was hit repeatedly. Apparently, this was not a niche case as the glitch was considered a serious problem. Fixed by the 1.10 patch<\/a>, the PC port is now in a more stable state. Since the team at Guerrilla has been very upfront about pulling most support from\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>‘s PC port, any future discovered glitches will likely have to be dealt with through workarounds.<\/p>\n

Of course, even without the glitches, there are still problems with\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em>. It is by no means a bad game, but there are still some pitfalls that Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em> must avoid<\/a> to surpass its predecessor. The extra effort from Guerrilla will hopefully help ensure this.<\/p>\n

How much of\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em> will rehash\u00a0Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em> and how much big innovation will be in the title is still unknown. There are a lot of crazy development stories about Horizon: Zero Dawn<\/em><\/a>, and one cannot help but speculate on whether or not\u00a0Horizon: Forbidden West<\/em> will have a similar bout of stories about it.<\/p>\n

Horizon: Forbidden West\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>releases on PS4 and PS5 in late 2021.<\/p>\n
